Other than televisions and the occasional snoring tenant, Shockwave doesn't amplify any useful sounds from the apartments directly across from the lot outside Hank's to the east. The low rent apartment buildings stretch out for blocks to the east, and from there to the north and south. There's too many buildings and individual apartments in each to really get a fix on anything specific, and given the five or so minute head start on skates and more subway entrances to the east, it's unlikely even a thorough search pattern will find Tommy specifically. Don't forget to mark up Shockwave's power stunt as "tried twice" now.

"I hadn't heard anything about this at all, between frat stuff and cramming for entrance exams, I was just looking forward to a night out. Yeah. Anyway, there might be a piece of evidence left over inside, the hot goth dancer who disappeared with the blue armored guy dropped a knife inside, it should still be there."
"By the way, if anyone asks if I'm a mutant, I'm just not going to answer them. It's none of their business. Besides just wait until there's an alien invasion, we'll see if they're really so eager to shun us then."
Seeing Spellbound also nearby, Elixir will wave to her, "Hi, I'm calling myself Elixir. Nice to meet you, just wish it could have been under better circumstances."

Frustrated that Tommy got away, Shockwave is at least somewhat relieved that Felicia's son made it away from the area to safety before things got too bad and the body count went up. He turns back surveying the area, and sees the mess, as well as the crowds.
He addresses Flashdance first, "You said you didn't teleport with the werewolf on your own? I think we may need to compare notes. I saw some strange things when I teleported out with the woman I thought I was rescuing from the darkness and cold in there. Odd thing was, the werewolf was there at the same time he was here. This whole thing is a lot bigger than we thought or hoped. They have some serious tech behind this. That should limit the list of names for possibilities. I just wish I had access to my old databases."
Shockwave turns his attention to Greta and Shelly. "If you get hold of Felicia, let her know her son got away fine from this. When this hits the news, she's going to be worried sick. If you get a live interview on the news, might want to mention you are glad your friend's son is safe. Don't mention his name, but if Felicia sees that, she'll know what you are talking about. Do you know what route she'd take to get home? I think I should check on her personally if she isn't answering calls. We still don't know the connection between this and the museum."

Oldschool grunted. He had been watching everyone and everything, reserving judgment. Again, there had been deaths. Again, it wasn't a good thing. He wondered if his lack of killer instinct had compounded things.
Had he not held back, perhaps he could have more of an impact on the events inside the bar. It was a tough question to answer. He didn't want to directly cause anyone's death, but indirectly causing someone's death didn't feel alot better.
"Shockwave," he said slowely, "give it up. He's long gone. Him and his buddies were making good time. They made it out okay. I had them, but they slipped away as the dragon teen attacked me. Felicia will be happy that you were here to make sure that her son got away..."
"We've powers and abilities that are beyond normal, but we're still all too human. We did the best that we could do given the circumstances. People got hurt, some died, but others lived because we did make a difference."
Oldschool cocked his ear. The police were fast approaching.
"Does anyone know who that other gang was? Or, where the hell they're getting this... 'Kick' from? Escalating gang tensions and power granting narcotics aren't making such a great mix. We need to shut it down before other innocents are killed."

Spellbound turns to Elixir.
"You can call me Spellbound. Yeah, this not exactly the best way to meet people. Was thinking, if you and Windchill want, let's meet on the quad tomorrow, start trying to get a hang on this whole Super Hero/College Student thing."
Spellbound looks at the assembled group of heroes.
"Maybe we should all meet somewhere tomorrow, what does the army call it...debriefing. Go over what each of us saw and did tonight, try to get a better idea of what it is that is going on. That, and I got some info I need to share with all of you, but I'd prefer to do it someplace less public."

Windchill's mind raced in confusion, still in shock over the deaths of his band mates.
I have pretty good rapport with the cops as "Windchill" but if I'm to maintain a 'secret ID' as a bass guitarist in a band attacked by monsters... Sh*t... this is f*cked up. How do real superheroes do this? It's probably best I give a statement to the police as Colin and not Windchill. I'm not ready for a double-life...
Windchill spoke up, choking back tears. "I'm not going to school tomorrow. Not after... this. I'll meet you at Sparky's [an on campus burger joint] at 2pm. Right now, I better... go."
Windchill walked up and touched his wall of ice and his skin briefly turned a bluish tint as the wall slowly began melting into water in the street. He walked away from it as it continued to desolidify, and re-entered Hank's Tavern.
A few moments later, he walked out of the back door of Hank's dressed as Colin Sontag, carrying a soaking wet guitar gig bag and a broken bass guitar past the Flashing Blades thug still trying to wake his stunned friends.
He walked up to the heroes again. "The knife is still there. It's evidence, best not to touch it, let... the cops handle it."
Colin made no serious effort at concealing his secret identity from the girls Shelly and Greta.

Police and ambulance units arrive at Hank's Tavern. It is roughly 1:15 AM. Medical units look over some in the crowd, but determine that no one there needs immediate medical attention and they move to look over the bodies of the dead and the unconscious Flashing Blades thugs. The cops begin taking statements from the crowd. Five of them report seeing monsters appear out of nowhere and begin attacking the band and bar customers. The other nine report only that the bar turned dark and bitterly cold and they ran outside and saw the heroes attacking a wolf-like creature before it disappeared. Some of them complain of being "harrassed by mutants" but the five that recall seeing monsters claim that the heroes saved them. Colin helps the police identify the bodies of his fallen bandmates. The five dead are carried away in ambulances with sheets over their bodies. A cop walks out of the bar with a bloody Khukri knife in an evidence bag. Greta shows the cops cell phone pictures of Oldschool wrestling the Dragon-Beastie that the thug Cutthroat had become, and emails them to a detective's cell phone. Cutthroat, still passed out in his underwear, is identified as a suspect wanted for assaults and robberies of helpless old ladies at a nearly retirement home and is taken into custody. Dopey has a rap sheet of minor drug arrests and assaults that takes several pages to display on a cop's dashboard computer. The thug that had briefly become a cosmic-level intellect is awakened to reveal he's now a mildly retarded babbling idiot, giggling and ranting about how the Earth is being "Watched by One from Beyond." He is placed in a straight jacket and also taken into custody. The stunned thugs all have rap sheets covering car thefts, assaults, robberies, drug possession and distribution. Their unconscious forms are rushed to the emergency room, all showing symptoms of internal injuries and head trauma. Their leader, Razor, is wanted in connection to a murder last year. The Flashing Blades thug named Chris is carried down a ladder off of the roof of Hank's Tavern with a compound fractured arm and taken to the emergency room. Tommy Bifrost's name is run through the police computer but only turns up a juvenile arrest record for shoplifting. None of the thugs taken into custody have any "Kick" drug on their persons, though some possessed other drugs and paraphenalia. The police appear exhausted, complaining of a "long night." Apparently there has been a storm of driveby shootings and gang retaliations all over Manhattan since earlier in the night with the violence in Central Park. "It's a full blown Gang War getting uglier by the hour." But the scene at Hank's Tavern is the worst they've encountered, and the only one in common with the alleged monster attack on the Crimson Smiles gang hangout the other night. A police detective takes statements from the heroes that give one, and thanks them for their co-operation. The crowd disperses, most leaving through the subways. Greta sees Shelly off on the subway and returns to Flashdance's side as the heroes wrap up giving statements to the police. ooc: go ahead and make brief RP conversations with the police and each other on any additional information sought and planning to meet again somewhere for "Wednesday night's action" in this thread. I'd like the heroes to wind up at Oldschool's homeless shelter "around 3:00 pm" to tie in to the crazy stuff Solo is going through. Flashdance and Greta go somewhere after the heroes split up to conduct the "exclusive interview" and gratuitous hotel no-tell scene. Chapter Six will pick up with some "morning in-character stuff" for the individual heroes before everyone is brought together at Oldschool's homeless shelter to meet at 3pm.
I'm going to borrow a NASA computer to calculate Karma awards.

To Old School:"I know there wasn't much we could do about it, but I don't have to like it. Getting Tommy out of here was the whole point of coming after all. We failed in that." To Spellbound:"Are you some kind of witch? If so, do you have some spell to get auras or details, or history or anything from an object? Might want to analyze that dagger." He seems unsure of how useful a witch's analysis would be, or if you could trust the which even if they claim to find out something useful. To Police:Shockwave will try to push to see if he can get the name of the gang that showed up with the bats by giving details about them. Other details: - "The gang member in his boxers and the one in the straight jacket were on kick. The one in his boxers turned into some kind of winged repilian, while the other had an enlarged head which may or may not have temporarily increased his intellect. No telling what effects might happen after they calm down, so make sure they are watched."
- "I don't know if the 'monsters' were kick junkies, mutants, or something else, but they seemed to disappear in a crackling flash of light when someone disabled any of them. Frankenstein's monster and the werewolf seemed just like they had been dreamed up in a monster movie, but there was a female with them in a cloud of darkness. I'm not sure what the story with her was, but she definitely disappeared with them."
- "A van of young men with bats arrived about the same time the 'monsters' appeared inside. I was able to drive them off before they got more involved. I'm sorry they got away while we were dealing with the mess inside. I was really hoping to keep at least one of them around so they could be questioned too."
AfterwardsShockwave will try dialing Felicia to make sure she knows her son got away. If he can't get hold of her, if she got info from Shelly or Greta, he'll try tracking her down. If not, he'll try finding somewhere to google and then track her down. Failing that, he's going to try and head back to his studio apartment in the area.

Shockwave: The police take note of Shockwave's warning about the two Kick using Blades thugs. They take Shockwave's statement and description of the monsters and the mysterious goth woman, but are dumbfounded by the idea that they disappeared without a trace. The police detectives inform Shockwave that he's described an obscure gang called the "Bat Boys" that is all but dissolved from prominence these days as most of their leadership hierarchy has been arrested and only a small core group remains of their former size, the others either jailed or joined into other gangs. There is no answer on Felicia's phone. Shelly can't seem to reach her either. Greta doesn't know her that well. [more to come on Felicia in "Chapter 5.3" ]

To Windchill and Spellbound: "Meeting tomorrow to debrief sounds like a good idea. How about we plan to meet at Sparky's at 2:00 like Windchill suggested?" To Oldschool: "I overheard you mention Kick...Hypercortisone D. I don't know who's distributing or manufacturing it, but it is extremely addictive." To Shockwave: "I haven't had a chance to say hi, and thanks yet, but thanks for rescuing some of the folks inside, they wouldn't have gotten out while in that pitch black." To Police: - Monsters appeared in the bar and started killing patrons while the dancers were under some type of hypnosis.
- When the monsters were incapacitated it looked like they turned into electric balls of energy and disappeared.
- I don't know anything about any gang wars or other activities around here, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

Plans for the morning:
- Attempt to contact Felicia again. If she doesn't answer, try the museum.
- At open at Pizza heaven, go to pick up my bag.
- Take the bag back to my my apartment.
- Set up computer to do research on Frankenstein's Monster, Werewolf, any connections to the as of yet unnamed woman, Flashing Blades, and Bat Boys. (Start with legal searches, then move on to hacking, best to start with local police unless searches take me elsewhere.)
