The small crowd of bar patrons that poured out of Hank's Tavern during the fight are still collecting their wits over the chaos that transpired over the last 45 seconds or so.
Some of them murmur about monsters. Others deny seeing monsters but make hostile comments about "stinking muties."
"...ruined a good show..."
"...Frankenstein came out of nowhere..."
"...mutants should be rounded up and sterilized..."
"...those heroes saved us..."
"...not like Superman. Mutants aren't even human..."

The battle over, Flashdance says the first profound thing that crosses his mind:
"Ouch"
Bleeding and feeling Broken, training was never anything like this, he thinks. Freaking Werewolf. And where the hell did I go to? I know I've seen those outfits somewhere; someone at the Paladin Institute might know; maybe even one of these guys.
Flashdance then looks at the scene in front of him. So much death. It all seemed like such a grand adventure when he got that knock on his door a few years back. Powers, adventure, money, babes, endless supply of pork rinds and WWE tickets. Seeing the poor folks though that didn't make it today was like getting hit in the head with bucket of cold water. In all of 45 seconds, Leroy suddenly felt 5 years older.
He wanted to cry.
"Snap out of it b!tch!" He thinks to himself. "If mama could see you now she would slap you upside the head and say the ones who made it through need a hero right now, and you better step up! Now suck it up, put the smile back on and do something useful! With that, he tries to help out as he can.
"Guys - I didn't cause that last teleport - someone else did. I think the sideshow freaks were being controlled by that someone else. I'd like to run what I saw by you guys a little later. But seems to me a lot of people here need our help right now."
Flashdance says to Windchill - "Hey man, no worries about earlier. I messed up. I'm so sorry about your friend. I'll help you find the folks who did it and kick their asses if you'd like."
"Greta - I would have come back to the restaurant, the pizza's great and you have PBR on tap - no reason to try and get yourself killed."
To everyone - "I don't know CPR or First aid but I can probably find people fast if someone else does. Let's just try to do it fast... I uh, I think I'm going to pass out soon from the blood loss..."

Windchill looks at Flashdance with a burning purpose in his eyes. "Yes. If you're going after the monsters that did this, I want in. I'm going to kill everyone responsible for this. I swear it!"
Windchill assesses the damage of the night.
Five people dead, three of them his band members.
The only wounded seem to be the heroes Flashdance and Spellbound, and the unconscious Flashing Blades thugs.
He nearly vomits as he sees the mangled corpses of his dead friends inside the bar.
As he comes back outside, some of the bigoted voices in the crowd upset him and he glares at them through angry tears. "You think you fear mutants now? You're lucky I'm holding myself back from the idea that you don't fear mutants enough! Now all of you, shut up! The cops will be here soon to take statements from all of you!"
Windchill quickly forms a 10 feet high by two feet thick barrier of ice separating the crowd in the street from the bar and the body of his dead friend, which grows under his feet so that he stands atop it over the crowd, his hands swirling with circles of wind and frost.
Glaring at the crowd, Windchill says "If any one of you talking monkeys try to run before the police arrive I will freeze the entire lot of you solid enough to shatter with a hammer!"
He didn't mean it, but in his fury he didn't care if they thought he did. He wasn't the spokesperson for mutant rights. He was just a mutant with cryokinetic powers. And one that saw three of his friends killed this night. He didn't know what exactly happened, but he did realize that six heroes were on the scene, or at least five and a robot, and that had they not been here, the scene would have been much worse.

Almost 20 seconds after Spellbound shifted her power to a healing energy, her silvery reflection field drops and a white beam of energy blasts out of her hands and strikes Flashdance in the chest, which stops the bleeding and heals his wounds.
[Flashdance is restored to 132 of 150 Health]
Flashdance feels a tickle from Spellbound's healing energy, feeling only slightly bruised now as his wounds close.
[Spellbound is still bleeding, now at 43 of 56 Health]
Greta says to Flashdance, "You didn't tell me you were going to go into battle. I just figured... we'd have a drink together."
Gaping in wonder as Flashdance's wounds close from Spellbound's healing energy she stammers, "I... I'm a intern reporter at the Daily Bugle during the day. I took some pictures with my cell phone camera. I have a pic of that Dragon thing Oldschool was fighting, but everything happened so fast I couldn't get a picture of the Werewolf."
Shelly pipes in, "Some of the crowd are saying that there was a Frankenstein inside the bar attacking people before everything went dark. Did that guy on the ice wall say he was a mutant? Ewwww."

"Yeah, C. it's me Ev. Let's keep our names quiet though, last thing we need is someone to peg this on the convenient muties excuse and start a witch hunt."
With that, Elixir will tear off a couple strips of his already ripped shirt and tie them about the lower half of his face, grimacing that he hadn't at all come prepared.
When he sees Colin go off on the crowd...
"C! Keep it together, stay focused on getting the ones behind this! I'm with ya' all the way, but we've got to stay cool or else this is going to land on us!"
Elixir will jog over to Flashdance next, "Hey I heard you were bleeding, can I take a look, I'm not a certified doctor but I've got better hands and more know how than most." (First Aid)
While looking at Flashdance, Elixir whispers "What the hell happened here? Also, whatever you've got planned next with these guys, I want in as well. They killed some good people. Also that werewolf wasn't the real thing...and..."
Crap listen to me babbling away...take some of your own advice Evan and keep it together!
Elixir clamps his jaws together and tries to focus on the task at hand.

Spellbound continues healing Flashdance with bursts of healing energy as her powers shift to Regeneration [until he's restored to full Health] leaving only a bloodstained and ripped costume as the only sign he's been cut. Not even a scar remains. Around 30 seconds later, Spellbound's wounds rapidly heal [restoring her to full Health]
=====
Shelly's "Ewwww" comment reveals an ignorance and bigotry towards mutants, no doubt influenced by the recently growing agitation against mutants [ooc: timeline wise, Marvel Graphic Novel #5, the infamous "God Loves, Man Kills" X-Men storyline is going to happen soon in the coming game-months, shortly after Xavier forms the "New Mutants" team].
Mutants in general have been getting a bad rap for years now, specifically since Magneto's terrorist attack on the US military's Cape Citadel base back in 1996 [ooc: the equivalent of X-Men volume 1, #1] Many people fear mutants due to Magneto's mutant supremacist views on humanity, and Windchill's "talking monkeys" contempt is likely not helping sway the bigots in the crowd.
Lately, the national political discourse against mutants has taken on an ugly quasi-religious tone. [Alison Blaire / Dazzler currently has a hit song on the radio... she's not been revealed as a stinkin' mutie yet]
=====
Shelly dials her cell phone, and hangs up in frustration. "I know it's late, but it's not like Felicia to not answer her phone."
=====
The only conscious Flashing Blades thug (#10) squats on his skates near the six thugs Shockwave stunned out earlier, unable to wake them.
=====
Greta asks Flashdance and the others if they'd be willing to do a quick interview. Glaring at Shelly, she says "so the public can know what really happened here."

Shockwave looks around, still trying to process what just happened. This whole thing just gets more and more complicated. The werewolf, the woman, and Franky were teleported, or cloned or something from where ever that room was. Sounds like FD might have gotten a glimpse too. Dragon guy is down, the baseball bat gangers got away... Tommy...where is Tommy? In a bit of a panic, Shockwave quickly looks over at the dead, then turns his attention to where the stunned gang members were still laid out. He ignores Windchill's display for the moment, and keeps looking for Tommy.
"Tommy Bifrost, where are you?"

Tommy Bifrost is not among the dead or unconscious, or the crowd. He was last seen skating eastward towards the low rent apartments with his buddy Rocco after Cutthroat turned into a dragon monster and Oldschool yelled at them a few minutes ago. The thug that had his arm broken by them is still atop Hank's Tavern where Flashdance teleported him, and still intermittently waking up in pain and passing out

A memory pops into Flashdance's head of when he was a teen, working in the fields "walking beans" to earn extra money. It was hard work and he used to get so mad that it only paid minimum. At least he wasn't a migrant worker though. They would travel field to field, farm to farm, work sun up to sun down. For working so hard they would get paid less than minimum; maybe a couple bucks an hour if they were lucky. It was alright though; they were illegals. What were they going to say? Hell, they were even good for a few jokes. Walking punchlines. They stank. They traveled in groups. They stole. Didn't even have the decency to learn our language. At the time Leroy didn't know any of this for a fact, but… look at them - how could it not be true! Sure, he had never actually talked to a Migrant worker, but just look at them!
That memory hit him like a ton of bricks as he looked over at Windchill. The guy just put himself on the line for these people and has a dead friend to show for it.
And they thank him with insults without even knowing him.
All of the sudden he felt ashamed.
"Damn Leroy" - he thinks to himself - you owe a whole lotta people apologies for the dumb stuff you used to say.
To Spellbound - "I don't know your name, but I appreciate the assist. I think I was about 2 seconds from passing out. "
Flashdance then looks at Shelly, gives her a "turd in the punchbowl" look
[OCC - gratuitous redneck phrase there ]
and says to Greta - "As long as I can still take you out mudding next Friday night you have the exclusive; so I can tell the world about that "mutie" over there that just probably saved her (glares at Shelly) boney butt and is currently crying over his dead friend. I need to help sweep the area for any survivors or wounded first though, and try and calm down my new buddy over there first.
To Windchill - "Common man, how about you help me look for survivors that might be trapped. Let's not let them end up like your friend. We can go kick someone's ass later."
"Yo, Shockwave - can your armor pick up survivors any how?"

ooc: Counting the dead with the living, everyone that was inside Hank's is accounted for. The only two missing from the outside are Tommy Bifrost and his friend Rocco, last seen skatiing east... they got away... Shockwave, Oldschool, and Flashdance know what Tommy looks like from a old photograph of him, and only saw him on the lot for around 12 seconds during the chaos that transpired. Not much to go on for a search for him, barring a door to door search of the low rent apartments at nearly 1:00 AM. [Life detection in New York City. What's next, saltwater detection in the Atlantic Ocean? ]
[He'll turn up later in another Chapter ]
Now, there is a conscious Flashing Blades thug on the lot trying to rouse his stunned out friends, and another on the roof of Hank's with a broken arm, both of whom likely know more about Tommy that searching and life detecting will find...
The police are going to arrive soon.===== Greta says to Flashdance in her flirty fake redneck Ellie Mae Clampett accent "Muddin? Paw says boys that take you muddin only want one thang..." she giggles a bit at her own goofiness. "Well, when the police are finished with taking statements, I've got to put Shelly on a subway home, but maybe we can... do the interview over doughnuts in a bit? Shelly clips her cell phone shut again. "Still no answer from Felicia. She must be passed out asleep at home."

Finding out that Tommy headed for the apartments down the street, Shockwave focuses on the building to collect sound, and filter and amplify any voices he can pick up, hoping to find any references to Rocco and Tommy.
(OOC: I knew Tommy went that way, but I didn't think anyone but Old School out of us knew that, so I was assuming Shockwave didn't see him run.)

Windchill comes down from his "ice ramparts" overlooking the crowd, and rejoins the other heroes.
He's muttering something about breaking his favorite guitar, and strains to put on a friendly face, but is still quite distraught about his friends dying.
"I'm probably not the best candidate for crowd control right now." he sarcastically jests to Elixir, sharing a knowing look of despair about a mutant's lot in life. "Maybe if we pretended to be from another planet the President will make nice speeches and we'll be made honorary members of the Avengers and the Justice League." he sighs.
"Last thing I need right now is to tell the cops I was playing bass guitar when monsters attacked and oh by the way, I'm a mutant in a silly costume and I have no proof monsters were ever here. At least the bar's owner seems to passed out over there," he says, pointing to the Flashing Blades thug leader Razor and four other Flashing Blades thugs passed out.
"I'm serious about wanting to hunt these things down with you all.. There was a news report in the Bugle the other day about a gang hideout being smashed by Frankenstein's Monster. I take it that no one here disintegrated them and they disappeared as suddenly as they appeared?
