Oldschool turned to Shockwave.
"What do you know?" he asked. This drug, this.. Kick didn't sound very good at all. There was enough things in the world already that hurt children. Throwing in this was just overkill.
He hoped they'd have a chance to shut it down one day. Perhaps tonight, atleast, they'd agree as a group to shut down this place.

"Sounds like we are about to meet a whole bunch of mutant gang members. For anyone who thought the last bunch at the bus weren't interesting enough...this could be your chance to see things stepped up a notch. At least there aren't likely to be as many innocents around this time."

ooc: most of all of the voices heard were people outside, gathering around the skate joust half-pipes. Seems one of the gang is afraid to take his turn on the joust.

Oldschool hears giggling girls coming up the stairs from the subway across from Hank's Tavern.
"Greta! This is crazy! We shouldn't be here."
"C'mon Shelley, it'll be fun. They said they were coming here. Flashdance gave me a $200 tip! I'll buy you a drink. We can find them. It won't be like last time we came here. And you know you think that Oldschool guy was a total hunk..."
Then suddenly a sickening THOK! sound from the parking lot by the skaters half-pipe, followed by a stifled cry of pain.
"Easy Chris. I'm sorry. Don't scream or we'll have to break your legs too. You heard what Razor said"
"Hit 'em again Tommy!"

Sweet Mamma Jamma!
Oldschool's eyes opened in alarm. Wasn't he just thinking about comic books? If he wasn't here, hearing this, he'd have thought it hilarious.
Cue innocent bystanders with a connection to the heroes...
But he was here and some girls that were sweet on Flashdance were about to enter a very dangerous locale. They were right across the street from Hank's.
"We gotta move, people," he said quickly in a growl. "Some fangirls from the pizza shop just showed up looking for you, Flashdance, and I think they're intending on heading into the tavern. Worse, it sounds like this 'Timmy', Felicia's son is quickly getting in over his head. They're talking about breaking some kids legs. I'm not going to stand for this!"
"The girls just came out of the subway, FD. We need to stop them before we head over to the tavern. We're not going to let 'Timmy' break some kids legs are we?"
Oldschool went to move and then stopped to wait for his peers advice. Charging into battle last time resulted in an old guy pushing up daisies. They needed to move smart.

"Sounds like one of us better hit the subway entrance quickly. Flashdance might be the best one to get to Tommy though, unless you think you can jump in and out with him. Oldschool, which of us should make the move?"

Oldschool nods. FD did have the best chance of getting 'Tommy' out of there with the least amount of worry. All they needed to do was point the kid out.
"Yeah, you're right. FD's the man to grab Tommy. I'm going to head the girls off. You're batting clean-up, SW. If anything goes wrong, we need to hit fast and hard... get them backed up on their heels before they realize we've grabbed the kid. I'm going to try and direct the girls back into the subway, but I'll be watching and listening. If there's troube, give me a holler and I'll charge in towards the half-pipe!"
Oldschool moves to head off the girls.
Not sure if we need an initiative roll, yet, but I'll throw one in now just incase (I have to take my 9 year old in to get his cast off of his arm).

"I'll take to the air to avoid any surprises. Time to see how we did on these." Shockwave looks down at his boot, lifting his foot slightly. I hope we got these together right. It was kind of a rushed job. If we didn't, this could be a short ride.
Looking over at Flashdance and then to Old school one last time to make sure they aren't too close, he activates the sonic generators through the boots, creating a cushion of force to push himself into the air. He deactivates the voice monitoring, keeping active sonar runnng to get a birds eye view of the potential battle scene, and hopefully avoiding any surprises.

"Aw Crap - why do I always have this affect on Women! Sorry guys; didn't think she would follow!"
"Yeah - I can get Tommy out in a Flash. Luckily we got to see the picture of him earlier so unless he's wearing a Nixon mask he should be easy to snatch. Hopefully keep that other kid from getting to banged up to."

OOC: Initiatives aren't wasted, just.... a bit early That's okay. You'll all be part of the scene as...Shockwave takes to the air and sees a black van pull off of 6th Street and onto the lot surrounding Hank's Tavern. Six thugs wearing black and white baseball jerseys, batting helmets, catcher's masks and pads, and carrying baseball bats get out. On the side of the van in gang graffiti is scrawled "Bat Boys." Five Flashing Blades gang members carrying hockey sticks and lead pipes skate behind the one they called Razor over to the arriving Bat Boys gang. They appear to be shouting heated words at each other. "This is Blades turf. You gotta a lot of balls rolling up in here, Slugga." "Easy, Razor. We came to make an offer." Razor and Slugga begin talking as their henchmen eye each other at a standoff. Next to the wall of Hank's Tavern, a Flashing Blades member leans over another one squatting on the ground, holding his head that has grown five times its normal size, pulsing and bleeding a little bit from overly-stretched skin. He babbles loudly, "Suspending the artificial K byproducts in an induced gamma radiation matrix, it is possible to manipulate the genome at the molecular level to activate latent mutagenic properties in baseline normal human physiology for short durations but with extremely fatal results if the dosage is not monitored closely for signs of autonomic distress! Cutthroat, my friend, I think I'm experiencing a hyper-intellectual adverse response to copious rapid ingestion of unmonitored levels of mutagenic compounds!" "Dopey, your head! Guys! Guys! Help! Dopey's wiggin' out hard!" ----- Oldschool leaps and lands at the top of the stairs leading down into the subway tunnel, visibly startling the two girls from the Celestial Temple of Pizza. It is Felicia Bifrost's friend Shelley, the greeting hostess, and Greta the waitress. Shelley regains her composure and shoves Greta a little bit. "You b*tch! You set me up for them to jump out and scare me! Well, ha ha! Very funny!" Greta pleads innocently, "I didn't know he was going to do that. Come on, let's go get a drink. Oldschool, do you guys have a table? Is Flashdance with you?" Shelley sighs and rolls her eyes as she follows Greta up the stairs. ----- Flashdance teleports and appears next to the half-pipe skateboard from a flash of light. On the ground, a Flashing Blade thug is laying with a compound fractured arm. Another thug holds him down and covers his mouth to muffle his screams as another that appears to be Tommy Bifrost prepares to hit his other arm with a lead pipe. They look up and see Flashdance... and his baseball bat, and yell "Bat Boys! It's an ambush!" ------ OOC: Now it's a battle scene. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Retain previously rolled initiatives and declare actions ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

OOC: Spellbound's intro...
Kassandra Singer sits alone at a table inside a rough bar called Hank's Tavern on 7th Street in Time's Square, controlled by a street gang of thugs that call themselves the "Flashing Blades."
A decent techno-rock band called "Snotch" plays onstage, finishes a rather torrid original song and begins covering a near-perfect rendition of "Butterfly Wings" by the Machines of Loving Grace.
The pagan community has been buzzing with the ramifications of someone translating and using the evil grimoire of Bartholomew Jacobs, a book called "A Madman's Mutterings" recently and mysteriously stolen from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Real Witches" Halloween display.
She had seen on TV three heroes show up in response to the museum curator's request for assistance to find the book. That's when Spellbound's mother called her in a panic.
After going to her mother's house, Spellbound saw her mother's Tarot deck spread on the table, with five cards set aside from the others, glowing with a strange mystical tinge.
On the five cards had been the images of those three heroes - Oldschool, Flashdance, and Shockwave, and another that appeared to be armed to the teeth with various guns and grenades.
And on the fifth card, the image of Spellbound herself.
Kassandra's mother's Tarot deck was often fairly accurate, but it had never been so neon obvious before. Her mother had been trying to find a clue to the whereabouts of the stolen grimoire.
She told Kassandra, "I don't know what it means, other than that the five of you are involved in recovering the book."
She turns over a sixth card, revealing a picture of Hank's Tavern, consumed in darkness.
And so, Kassandra decided to go to Hank's Tavern, where she's been sitting for hours, listening to this band. Around 11:30pm, Flashing Blades gang members began showing up and getting drunk and rowdy, boisterous but no fighting.
After midnight a Blades gang member runs in and grabs two others, yelling "C'mon! The Bat Boys are here. I think they want to rumble!"
Kassandra knew the Bat Boys were a gang of thugs that were of fading prominence, virtually dried up as other street gangs like the Gutter Pirates and Broad Daylight Killaz were growing in ranks.
ooc: die rolling is done by that "Attack Rates" button above on the upper right reply compose screen. State your declared action, hit return, then click that attack rates button, which rolls percentile dice. After your reply is posted, the die result will appear. The first number / tens digit is your init roll. Same method will be used for FEAT resolution die rolling.

Flashdance thinks to himself - superpowered or not, there are several of them and one little ol' Flashdance. I better try to grab Tommy and get out of here.
Then he see's the thug on the ground.
"Crap" he thinks - "Guess Tommyboy just became the second priority - better get the guy on the ground out then come back for mommy's little delinquent"
With that, Flashdance is going to drop a Flash on the group while saying - "Sorry boys, but lead pipes have not style - as an official member of the Bat appreciation society I need to confiscate this thug!"
Flashdance intends to grab the guy on the ground and zap him out of there.

"Great, a fight isn't what we needed here. It's just a bunch of kids, but they are still dangerous...mostly to themselves," Shockwave says with nobody else around to hear him a couple stories up.
Seeing the bat boys emerge from the van, and the flashing blades members closing with them, Shockwave tries to come up with a plan. I need to time this just right, and maybe we can keep them all from hurting themselves. If I can just get close enough, maybe I can unload on them. Time to find out if this modification will pay dividends. If not, it should be a spectacular crash...maybe that will distract them enough to avoid the fight.
Shockwave allows the two gangs to close the distance to get closer together, then dives into close range above them, unleashing a high intensity sonic stunning blast in all directions.
OOC: Power stunt combining two previously learned power stunts. Stunning Blast (-1CS) and area attack (-1CS), for an area wide stunning attack at -2CS (Excellent intensity). Waiting to try to get the maximum number of gang members at once by letting them close in together, but trying to minimize their chance to actually hit each other before I fire. Oh, and since this is another red feat power stunt for a first timer, spending more karma.

Oldschool shook his head. He could see the two rival gangs squaring off. It was about to get ugly. He was sure of it.
"Ladies," he said as he moved in front of them, "I need you to stay there. Things are about to get seriously ugly."
Oldschool paused in thought then changed tactics.
"Do either of you ladies know First Aid? We will need... Flashdance would be able to fight... criminals easier if he knew that you were both out of harm's way. Plus, we.. he could really benefit if you two were able to help us by staying here in case anyone needs assistance. Normally, this wouldn't be asked of citizens, but I can see the intelligence in your eyes. Would you help us? I need to go help the team... and Flashdance!"

Kassandra ponders the situation for a moment, given the number of bangers; some of which have appear to have minor powers, and in light of what she saw in her mothers tarot spread she begins to select [glow=purple,2,300]Darkforce Manipulation.[/glow] She casually leaves the bar, giving anybody around her the impression that she is just a curious bystander wanting to see some new entertainment. “I hope Mom saw things right, if those guys aren’t here this could get ugly” [OOC - Was not sure how do the classic though bubble, so I went italics] [attack=883538951165527]
