I just figured Montesi was part of the module too. Been so long, since I've read the module (20 years?), everything seems new to me. That was a good fit too. Thanks. It's been about that long since I've read the modules too, sort of tweaking them as I go along. We're gonna have a lot of fun with this

Really looking forward to seeing how the heroes are able to interact and how they handle difficult situations. It's a really odd mix of heroes with diverse backgrounds.
There are definately some big weaknesses in the group's collective skills (and some definate strengths), so I'm looking forward to seeing how they overcome those weaknesses when the opportunity arises.

I foresee a lot of beating answers out of thugs to make up for lack of contacts with local law enforcement

Those beatings could really hurt too since 25% of the party carries baseball bats, and 25% prefers kneecapping.

It's not like a criminal world that contains both Marvel's AIM / Hydra, The Maggia, the Hand, the Kingpin, various supervillain weapons suppliers etc. and DC's League of Shadows, Intergang, Kobra, and various supervillian weapons suppliers are running around being nice to people. The world needs heroes

Thinking about what we know so far:
-Book by a possible witch/warlock stolen -Monsters being conjured using the book? -Gang hangout being attacked with several deaths resulting
Based on this info, some things I'm thinking about our party... 1) We are very inadequate in the ways of mystical threats 2) We are probably much better suited to thump gang thugs than protect them if we end up in that role 3) Depending on what kind of monsters we are talking, it could get ugly for us...Frankenstein probably is a good matchup if it's like the classic frankenstein monster...him vs Flashdance or Old School could be a good fight

There will always be the ol' "teleport a thug to the top of a flagpole and leaving him hanging there ala' the wedgie of doom" maneuver

I think the interesting ways that Flashdance and Solo come up with to use their teleporting powers are going to be the key to our success. (That and the fact Old School should be able to punch through obstacles the rest of us can't do much against.)

Something I've been thinking about is the fact that Shockwave and Oldschool will NOT be appearing in a Marvel Team-Up comic anytime soon. Shockwave's sonics + Oldschool's heightened hearing= migraine headaches for Oldschool. Hopefully Batman will show up, just so he can lend my character a set of Wayne Enterprise manufactured ear plugs.

(besides, I'm redoing the Batman character stats from near-scratch, making his equipment list much cooler / in line with comics, and his stats and talents a bit less "beats Captain America handily" and more "Captain America and Batman would be a fair fight" not that I want to revisit that CMF debate here) There's enough intrigue and misdirection behind whoever's manipulating street gangs to go to war with each other that it may spread to other cities, but for now, Batman is (for those of you with precognition, heh) about to quit the Justice League and form the original Outsiders to rescue Lucius Fox from Baron Bedlam after the JLA are ordered by the United Nations not to interfere (to give you a "time period in comics" sample of storylines elsewhere. The X-Men are starting up the New Mutants team around this time as well. Basically Marvel and DC Comics circa 1983 -1985, but set in 2009.

Personally, I think Batman's just fine the way he is. I'm more of a Captain America fan myself, but Bats WOULD beat him rather handidly... there's just too much that he could do that Cap would not be able to counter. When they did the JLA/Avengers all Bats admitted was that it was concievable that Cap could beat him... what he meant to say was that if they kept it a pure martial contest, it was possible that Cap could beat him. Throw in shield+utility belt and there's no way Cap could match him. As a Cap fan, you should keep Batman the way he is... the biggest part of appreciating Cap is that I appreciate that he would fight regardless. Cap fights because he's there and hopes to make a difference. Batman fights because he's prepared to win, lol

I think the changes that SK is working on is that Cap probably would win the pure martial contest, but Batman might even have more advantage with the equipment, since the current writeup is actually missing a lot of his toys.

That could get kind of messy the first time I break out the mass stun power stunt hitting everyone in a single area. Of course the single shots could go bad too...not like Shockwave has actually used the weapons in combat yet...target ranges and labs just aren't the same as the chaos of combat.

Re: Captain America vs. Batman -- the hand to hand contest would be roughly equal, and if prolonged, Capt. America would eventually tire Batman out because Cap's Endurance is higher. But if both were commited to taking out the other as quickly as possible, "gloves off," Batman would smoke Captain America. Blocking with a shield = not attacking, and the shield has no defense against gaseous weaponry and other assorted Bat-goodies. It would end up with Captain America calling Batman a "dirty fighter" and Batman calling Captain America an ambulance. Re: Shockwave's sonics vs. Oldschool's hyper-hearing, that could get ugly. As far as character strengths and weaknesses, just from me eyeballing the stats, any player character vs. any player character could go any way. Flashdance likely being the most dangerous to non-flying characters (taken for a ride on the Flashdance 'port-to-great heights-and-dropped express tactic, to let gravity do the work of superstrength) Shockwave and Solo rely mostly upon their tech and weaponry. Solo isn't the "teleports at will" type with his recharge time. Sonics are hard to defend against, and worse with potential Vibration power stunts. Oldschool is a brick bad ass. Definitely don't want his hands on breakable stuff, and his leaping power could save him (with an Agility FEAT) from sudden high distance falling brought on by a meanstreak teleporter. If I had to personally bet on any character against any other character, I'd put money on Shockwave.

Hopefully I can live up to that billing. Of course, there is the assumption of lots of karma for power stunts to take the best advantage of my sonics and abusing vibrations.
Really looking forward to seeing how the party lines up against Frankenstein and whoever is behind this with the book. Of course some rampaging heroes against gang members can make for some enjoyable, if less challenging fights as well. The heroes are all so different, who knows how they will work together.
