Nightmare points his wand at Elixir and says...
***You fear losing your humanity, losing control, losing your restraint.***
Evan stoops over and picks up a piece of errant candy wrapper from the hospital floor and drops it into his trash bag. Just part of his normal hospital duties. He makes his way over to another corner of the lobby where a crumpled newspaper lies discarded. Retrieving it he can't help but notice the headlines "Mutant Registration Passed!"
Evan sighs sadly, but is interrupted when a trio of police officers enter the room. One walks over to the receptionist while the other two look around the room, nodding kindly to Evan. The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" plays through the sound system.
Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah I'm gonna fade away
Evan then notes that they each have an odd looking device that seems to start making very quiet pings. The two officers look at each other and then after double checking their devices, nod to each other.
"Mark, looks like we've got a live one here." The officer at the desk spins around at this and checks his own sensor.
The three move around the room and as they step toward Evan, the pings get noticeably more pronounced. The one called Mark looks at Evan and says, "On the floor mutie, time to take a little trip." All kindness is gone from their eyes.
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Evan looks at the humans and takes off running down the nearest corridor tipping over his cart behind him. Trailing him he can hear the officers yelling and calling for backup. Glancing back, Evan can see that more flatlines have joined the police. The corridor seems to expand impossibly to accomdate them all. He sees his fraternity brothers, shouting, "We knew there was something wrong with you, defending muties!" He sees
people from Sparky's, from around campus, all chasing him.
Ahead are a pair of double doors and Elixir bursts through them, suddenly in his costume. Sharp light blinds him as he finds himself outdoors in a courtyard. Stumbling to a halt, he is apalled to see that there are tall poles in the yard, with burning flames licking at their feet. Tied to the poles are people, being burned alive. The last pole has Windchill tied to it, he screams in pain.
Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way
The mob has surrounded Elixir and the lead officer says, "This is what you all deserve, filthy mutie. Burn like witches!" They begin closing around Elixir. Through the mutterings of the mob, Elixir hears Windchill whimper, "We should have fought back..."
Sudden fury grips Elixir. He remembers the Kick he still has, and slides the syringe into his arm.
Power, like never before, I can do anything!
Some ords spontaneously combust, others start to decay right before their eyes, cancerous growths break out on still more. Elixir himself filled with burgeoning power combines his many forms and stretches out a rubbery arm dripping acid and grabs the officer Mark in a titanium grip. "Never again! You'll never harm another mutant!" He feels the human's ribs crush and his life fade, dropping the burnt and twisted husk to the
ground.
Then a deep melodious voice speaks aloud.
"They deserved it. They declared war on us, and you fought back.
Welcome."
A tall distinguished man with a red costume and spartan like helmet gestures and Elixir floats up with him and they streak away to continue their shared war against the pitiful homo sapiens that don't even know that they are a doomed species.
The sound system plays on...
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away...
Elixir's last thought is, "They were right to fear us..."
ooc: Elixir wrote this dream sequence. Just like Shockwave's, I can do no better, so hell yeah, that's Elixir's nightmare...
