// Ah-ha! Finally able to post. Finals are coming up, so I've been studying. Sorry! \\
The capacity of the mind. It can hold many things, but it can't catch much if there is too much information at once.
This was exactly that. Rin couldn't believe what Vigil had just told him. He only understood what the jist of it was....
He was originally held under control, many years ago, by some man who experimented on him multiple times, and cloning him on top of that, to increase his power for the Nazis & HYDRA. Rin was apparently 'stolen' because of the Paladin Institute's fear of the hypnoporter he was powering. They found multiple clones of him, and brought him here.
Rin did stand motionless for a long time, trying to comprehend what all that had just occurred, before Vigil spoke again, this time confirming his original guess on what he was. Something similar to Oldschool's situation.
Apparently Vigil had already thought this out. If Rin tried something hostile, the 'real' him would more than likely get punishment, causing the 'him' right here to disappear.
Rin couldn't take it anymore. It was too much to handle, and too true all the same. He had to get away from this man.
As Vigil held his hand out. Rin would walk slowly toward him, turning the gun around so it would be easy for Vigil to grab. Rin would hold onto it barely so he wouldn't be touched or impair Vigil from grabbing it. As soon as Vigil grabs it, he immediately bolts, tears still streaming down his face, towards the exit the 'soldiers' used, his invisibility fluctuating between on and off as he did so.

As Rin gives Vigil the gun, he takes it and tosses it away.
"We've been caring for you for over 40 years, Rin. We've been seeking a way to awaken you from your coma for just about as long. And now, there's a new Hypnoporter device out there, with evil men using others the way Arnim Zola used you. You can help them. Help us help them. Help us help you. Will you stay with us? Help us?"
***Yes, help them. They need you. They seem to be good people.***
The soft voice returned to Rin's mind, the friendly one, the one that had called herself Cassandra. The one that the new, evil voice had shouted down earlier.
And Rin sees a shimmering image of the deceased girl Spellbound, standing near Vigil. He waves his hand through her intangible form, and asks "Who's your friend? A ghost?"
It is apparent that Vigil's eye can see her, just as he can see Rin. But he can not hear what she is saying to Rin. Cassandra's image seems amazed that Vigil can see her too.

Three steps. Three steps was all he took before Vigil's words reached him, causing him to stop in his tracks.
Why would Rin care about others? Its not like they have done anything for him except reject him while he's been like this, and before, abused. Plus, the 'Help us help you' motivation isn't much: they've been trying to wake 'him' up for forty years, and have been unsuccessful, so why would they succeed if he helped? Did they just want to use him so Rin can do what happened in Oldschool situation?
A voice! Rin couldn't believe it. It seems that the new voice did drown out the effects of his other voices.
Rin began to wonder what this fun voice would say in this situation, though he knew he was happy right now and he probably won't talk to Rin right now.
Rin took in a deep at the voice's words. He didn't want to deal with these emotions anymore, apparently they were bad after long periods of being exposed to them. But the nice voice was right, these were people he could trust, and his ability would be useful, but Rin didn't want to be used...
"Who's your friend? A ghost?"
Friend? Ghost? Rin turns around to see a familiar figure standing next to Vigil. That woman that had the bed sheet over her at the shelter. She's been talking to him this entire time? But...does that mean she's know about him all along, since he first heard her voice before he met this group? And why would she show herself now, of all times?
Rin paused for a few moments, staring at the ground, unsure of what to say. Finally, after thinking it through, he nods before mumbling.
"I don't want to be used."
He didn't feel comfortable answering questions he didn't know about, such as what that woman was. He'd have to find a way for him to communicate with her somehow, but now wasn't the time.
There was so many questions, and very few answers to all that had occurred within the last few minutes. He's tired of emotions, his past, these people; he needed to get away, and fast. But even his own feet can't make him run away from what he knows and feels. Is there such a place that he can be at peace?
Rin could only think of one, where anything could happen, including the disappearance of his worries: in his dreams.
He has never tried it before, but has thought about it during restless nights on the streets. As soon as he thought about it though, he'd fall asleep. Now, though, he wasn't trying to fall asleep. He NEEDED to fall asleep.
His invisibility would turn off as he took in a deep breath, and concentrated on himself to go to sleep, like how he made others fall asleep. He didn't know how long it would take, or even if it would work, but he had to at least try.
"Good night." Rin mutters almost inaudibly.
//Sleep Induced on Individuals attempt with Karma available (assuming he as any, as you do Karma per chapter.)
Rolling the perquisite roll, and spending the karma, which I hope he has, to make it a red! [attack=313233734627892]

ooc: I'll allow the Karma expenditures because I haven't subtracted Karma loss and added Karma gain yet. I'm sure Rin will redeem himself to start Chapter 10 with some Karma leftover. The new powerstunt cost 100 + 54 to make it Red on the Amazing column (IN -1CS for being a powerstunt. + 2CS for being as point blank range as you can get with a telepathic power targeted on yourself...). So, Rin had 375 current Karma on hand, now he has 221. He's probably going earn some more back just from stumping the Judge after the causing of so much property damage, but that's okay. I like that ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ===== Rin focuses his power to induce sleep in others upon himself. And awakens. "Nein! Bitte nehmen Sie nicht meinen Sohn weg!" the woman cried out. "Wir haben den Befehl, ihn in die Anstalt zu nehmen. Er ist nicht gut." The man in gray trenchcoats pushed the woman aside, and grabbed the boy hiding behind her. "Nein! Nein! Wir wissen, was passiert mit denen, die Sie mitnehmen! Er ist nur ein Junge! Ein unschuldig!" the woman protested. The men in trenchcoats, soldiers perhaps, knocked the woman down with a rifle butt. Then shot her. And shot everything. The woman was traveling, in a caravan. With others. "Die Zigeuner" was what the Nazis called them. The gypsies. The child being taken away was one of them. He was Rin. Moments of fragmented memories from a tattered mind washed over him. And then, Rin found himself sitting at a table in a graveyard swarming with zombie like creatures, seated with Spellbound, Flashdance, and another who looked like Rin. The other Rin cocked his head to his left and looked at Rin. Spellbound and Flashdance were pleading with this other Rin to wake Flashdance up. Occasionally, Flashdance would get up to swat away skeletal zombies that approached too closely to the table. The other Rin said to Spellbound, "You are dead, he is asleep, and I am awake."

Flashdance continues to swat and throw zombies that approach the table.
"I am dead. This is true," Spellbound / Cassandra says to the other Rin. "But the barriers between worlds are weakest this time of year. And they're weaker than usual. My powers were always part of the quantum universe. From what I sense, your conciousness is a dream world, and we're in it. Therein lies the problem. You've built a world for yourself on Nightmare's turf. Why?"
The other Rin says, "Revenge."

The other Rin turns from Spellbound as the zombies overwhelm Flashdance and carry him off into the distance. Spellbound pleads for the other Rin to "wake Flashdance up" but he scoffs at her. She turns in a huff, getting up from the table and running after the zombies that carried Flashdance away.
"I hate it when they do that," says the other Rin to Rin, as the scenery around them fades into wispy visions of the dull gray walls of the Angel Towers sub-basement. "When they leave the room, I can't see what they're doing in the waking world. You're going to have to go see what they're doing. For us."

So.... this was him asleep from what he does to others. Rin sorta crinched at the thought of what he had been doing to people for so long, and so many...
Or perhaps this was just for him. It seemed like this other 'him' was, well, just that in the real world. The two that ran off while Rin was cautiously studying the other him did not concern Rin, he ignored them. This 'Rin' might have something important to tell him, or maybe he could help him wake up...
"Us? How?" Rin sounded suprised as he maintained his quiet tone. Were their more of him or was he just refering to the two of them? And... does the other Rin have the ability to spy through him? Did he just witness what happened to him? So many questions, and not enough courage to ask them.
Rin looked at 'Rin' with anticipation as he sat there, his hands continually shifting in his lap out of nervousness.

The other 'Rin' seemed perturbed. "Still caught up on that flimsy dreamworld / realworld distinction. Annoyance. How do you suppose you make yourself 'not really there' out there? We make people dream you're not there. Dream while they're awake. We need a focal point, a physical manifestation of our power, and that's you. They've got nine of us together. But there are others. Adults, children. You hear them. Your experiences drive them insane. Hallucinating your life. It can't be helped. Other voices interfere. Ghosts. Angels. Dreaming demons. We need you in the real world, the waking world. You are our avatar."
