To Flashdance:
"Okay, yep, that's a real messed up error you've got there..."
To Spellbound:
"Sounds like a plan, if they're trying to ambush us, then someone there knows something."
I messed up, secret agency shows up out of the blue offering us info, equipment, a base, yeah, definitely too good to be true.

"So we know this isn't the paladin institute. We are now missing two of our allies, and three functional dreadnought killer robots. We have a big problem." Shockwave shakes his head disappointed he didn't go with his instincts back at the warehouse. "I'm not a fan of setting up shop right here right now, especially since whoever set up the elaborate trap knows more about this place than us. It could be wired to explode, it could be bugged, or is could be the center for a dimensional gateway if any of that alien invasion talk was true. Right now, this might be our best place to find out what is going on, but it will be here in the morning to investigate. Those punks who may still have Felicia won't be there. We should get moving."

Looking at spellbound "Sounds like a plan, Ill get some nonlethal weapons and meet you back here", Solo looks at the rest of the team," Anything else? We could use somekind of radiocomunicators, so we can keep in touch, Ill see If I have any"

OOC: Renegade tries to intercept the one closest to him in his area, Lady Anguish. Note he is still in civilian clothes since there was no time for him to change into his costume.

Maximillian Pride is still trying to piece together the events of the last seven hours of his life.
"Paladin Institute? I'm on the board of trustees of the Paladin Institute. It's a private sector research firm funded entirely by philanthropy. I contacted them for assistance in finding the stolen book, and they sent Flashdance. I don't have much to do with their day-to-day operations. But this is definitely not the Paladin Institute. We're somewhere in southern Manhattan. The Paladin Institute HQ is in... well, that's priviledged information. But it is definitely not in New York City. Who was that young man that just.... disintegrated?"
Mr. Pride appears distressed. "I don't remember anything between talking to Felicia on the phone this afternoon and finding myself on the floor just now holding my ears."
Then, Mr. Pride turns to Shockwave. "Dimensional gateways? Alien invasions? What are you talking about?"
And then Mr. Pride gestures at Solo. "I recognize him from TV. Isn't he wanted for last night's drive-by shootings in Central Park?

"Sigh, meet you guys here later", before Pride can get into a panic Solo teleport to his bunker. This whole crap wasn't good, he was thinking Paladin is just another terror org with high tech and supers trying to manipulate him and the other to do their bidding. For now Spellbound seemed the most trustworthy, so he would work with this group until he could find out what is going on.
It made Little sense. Once Solo arrived home he changed into civilian clothing, T-Shirt, Jeans, cowboy boots, motorcycle jacket. He wore his Kevlar under the shirt, and fitted it so it wasn't visible. He sealed away a nunchuck, in one boots/leg strap, a combat knife in the other and hid a small taser and a small gun attached his arm to mechanism that allowed him with a thought to make it jump in his hand (like in red heat, just attached to chip), if the shit hit the fan, which it usually did. That was his plan B. He wasn't invulnerable or could shoot lasers out of his butt or anything else. He could fight and telelport, thats it. Anyway He got ready to teleport back, when he took the mini radio transmitters (like in torchwood), one for each team member, and got ready to telelport.
))((OOC If I need to spend Karma, change or roll something tell me and Ill do so))((

Solo returns to his bunker in Utah to retrieve the requisitioned items and weapons. The interior of the bunker is just as he left it, however a foul stench of burned flesh fills the air. Outside the bunker's blast door, two horribly burned bodies in green HYDRA uniforms lay across the hidden entryway, victims of a claymore mine set to stop unwanted intruders from entering the bunker.
Obviously this bunkers' location has been compromised. Fortunately Solo has other bunkers and weapon caches stowed all over the world, but Solo is left wondering if both the Paladin Institute and HYDRA can track his movements seperately, or if those organizations are the same organization. It seemed, from the cape Flashdance's text message in his baseball bat "phone" that HYDRA had somehow temporarily gotten control of Mr. Pride's mind. Whatever this "Paladin Institute" is, they don't seem as potent as was first impressed. Solo would have to keep his guard up, not knowing who to fully trust. If HYDRA was controlling Mr. Pride throughout his spiel about extradimensional aliens, perhaps all of that nonsense was disinformation to manipulate the heroes, including talk of clearing Solo's name.
But, that all seemed to point to one definite thing. Someone has the stolen book, and HYDRA is seeking and wants the stolen book too. If HYDRA wants it, Solo must see to it that they don't get it. Whatever the book can do or what secrets it holds, for HYDRA to want it bad enough to set out this manipulating path of intrigue to get it is serious enough reason to find the book before they do and make sure it stays out of their hands. Solo would have to work with the capes. It seems they've been drawn together by mutual enemies.
After changing clothes and gathering equipment, Solo would have to torch this compromised bunker and never return. Before setting the pre-wired self-destruct explosives, Solo checks his encrypted email and finds a message from Silver Sable, lamenting the death of the mercenary Deadpool and acknowledging a deposit of payment into one of Solo's Swiss bank accounts for services rendered in destroying the warehouse and the drugs and weapons it contained.
Solo sets the detonation timers and teleports back to the Angel Towers Building with the communications equipment for the capes to use as his abandoned bunker explodes.

ooc: sorry for the wee bit of railroading here to cover the passage of time....
In a twinkle of glowing balls of plasma, Solo returns to the office on the top floor of One Angel Tower wearing a T-Shirt, Jeans, cowboy boots, and motorcycle jacket with a cache of non-lethal stun grenades and comm equipment for the team. The strange pendant necklace remained around his neck.
While he was gone, the team made a quick search of the building, finding only piles of ash and dust wherever a "Paladin agent" had stood. The vandalized SUV from the museum and the threee captured Dreadnought robots remained, surrounded by piles of dust representing the technicians that were working on them. Whatever psionic phenomenon that brought those technicians into existence appears to have abandoned the effort after Spellbound shielded the office. Even the vehicles that had brought the heroes to this building were now large piles of dust.
The only thing missing from the items retrieved from the battle at the Port Authority was the crate of strange chemicals.
And of course, Oldschool and Windchill remained unaccounted for.

Starky's Pool Hall battle
Initiative modifier notes: Renegade's initiative is +1 in unarmed combat, but +2 in darkness / Darkforce

Shroud's initiative is +4 in unarmed combat
Lady Anguish's initiative is +2 unarmed. +3 with chain (Weapon Specialist)
Dansen Macabre's initiative is +1
Werewolf by Night's initiative is +5 due to high intution
Frankenstein's Monster, Tommy Bifrost, and the various gang members have no initiative bonuses----- ![](http://i540.photobucket.com/albums/gg340/deadsidekick/Starkys2.jpg) ----- Action declarations / turn order 16) Stick spending Karma for Red stun results, making multiple sweep attacks (x3), on Buzzcut #6, Batboy #1, Gutter Pirate #1, and Dansen Macabre 11) Shroud enveloping the back half of the bar in Darkforce 10) GP #2 Charging Stick with a knife 10) Lady Anguish leaps on pool table swinging chain at Paul / Renegade 10) Werewolf sweep attacks on Buzzcuts #3 and #4 9) GP #4 shooting at Buzzcut #8 9) Tommy Bifrost eye blast on Frankenstein's Monster 8) GP #5 shooting at Buzzcut #9 8) GP #3 shooting at Buzzcut #7 8) BT #5 attacking Buzzcut #9 with baseball bat 8) BZ #5 attack Stick with pool cue 7) Dansen Macabre attacking Stick 6) BZ #7 attacking Batboy #3 with pool cue 6) BZ #2 blindly shooting in Shroud's direction 5) BZ #1 throws a chair blindly in Shroud's direction 3) Paul / Renegade intercepting Lady Anguish 3) GP #1 shooting at Stick 3) BT #1 swinging a baseball bat at Stick 3) BT #3 swinging baseball bat at Buzzcut #7 3) BZ #8 swinging pool cue at Batboy #3 3) BZ #6 punching Stick 2) BZ #9 charges Lady Anguish with pool cue 2) Frankenstein's Monster grabs pool table and throws it in Buzzcut #7's direection 2) BZ #3 throwing bottles in Werewolf's direction 1) BZ #4 swinging a chair at Werewolf 1) BT #2 swinging a baseball bat at Stick 1) BT #4 moving towards Paul / Renegade ----- ooc: Paul / Renegade is being attacked by Lady Anguish as he moves to "intercept" her. I'd prefer to interpret this as an Evasion FEAT to avoid damage and for possible attack bonuses on Lady Anguish in the following round. Renegade's Fighting stat is high enough to do this handily, so Renegade should roll a Fighting Evasion FEAT.
From all the violence taking place this turn, a lot of targets are possibly going to be downed or knocked out....

"Flashdance, if I gave you an address, could you teleport these dreadnaughts to it? I'd like to move the car too, maybe to the homeless shelter if nobody else has a better place? I don't like leaving any of it here in case someone comes back. We at least should hide them somewhere until we can deal with them."

As per Stick's martial arts training, Paul closed his mind to the sights and sounds of the chaos erupting all around him and concentrating merely on his opponents. He did feel a new wave of rushing darkness that was similar to his own mutant powers of darkness and shadow but this one was of a grander scale.
The woman wielding the chain jumped on the pool table in the corner and swung the chain toward Paul.
Seeing no real need to conceal his mutant ability midst everyone involved in the bar fight, Paul concentrated and the Dark energy solidified fighting sticks formed in both his hands.

"Hope you guys can use this stuff", Solo said grimly,"...two HYDRA Agents tried to infliltrate my Base, had to abandon it. I think we are dealing with Hydra, not with Paladin, they might not even exist or are a cover org of HYDRA. They want that book and this Pendant. This whole Arcane Mumbo Jumbo might be fake too, but they want that book badly, and will do anything to get it. We have to get it first whatever it does, and secure it. So are we going to that bar? Havent been to a bar in quite some time." Solo smiled slightly trying to ease the tension of the upcoming dangers they as a group musst overcome.

Mr. Pride is taken aback by Solo's accusation. "I can assure you that the Paladin Institute has absolutely nothing to do with HYDRA. I certainly wouldn't throw my considerable wealth into a organization tied to terrorist activities. The Paladin Institute does research...."
Mr. Pride looks a bit confused, then says, "I think I remember something about the last seven hours. A voice in my head. Crisp, baritone. I can't see his face. I'm helplessly watching the voice take contol of my body. Speaking through me. I can't stand it!"

"I know a lot more about what HYDRA can do over alien invasions. I agree, they need to be stopped at whatever they are doing. And Mr. Pride, it seems HYDRA set up a fake front claiming to be the paladin institute. They've kidnapped Oldschool and that cold guy, and it's possible they are responsible for taking Felicia too. For whatever reason, they want us to go to this bar, putting the bait that information about both the book, and about Felicia might be found there. Definately sounds like a trap, but at least we know that going in. That voice seems to be attached to someone with powerful mind control and reality altering powers somehow. This whole building was teaming with fake Paladin agents just before you came to."
