ooc: I will roll a Reason +4CS FEAT (+3CS if Oldschool doesn't help with the labor) roll to determine the success of modifying the armor to allow uninhibited Flight at Remarkable speed and control while retaining / using the other powers of the armor, and add Karma to the roll.
This modification will take 30 minutes to complete.
It is currently 9:47pm.
White = something breaks, but can be repaired with another 30 minutes of work and another FEAT roll (at an additional +1CS because all of the broken parts are there)
Green = the modification works for 1-10 rounds, then breaks as a White Result, taking all sonic generator powers offline, requiring 30 minutes to repair.
Yellow: Modification works, but at -1CS (Flight would be Excellent speed, other powers based on the sonic generator at Remarkable), requiring fine tuning that will take 1-10 days of shop time to restore to full power rank.
Red = Sweet success!
Shockwave (and Oldschool, if he helps) can add Karma on the roll.
All I need to know is if Oldschool is pitching in with a wrench and if either or both Shockwave and Oldschool are tossing Karma into the mix.
And then, I'll roll ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Flashdance soaks in the Country music. A Dwight Yokem song hits his ears and he feels like he is home, if just for a second.
He says to the waitress - "Wow, find me a "Triple Gross Burger" and I might just ask you to marry me"
(OCC - Gross burger is our local famous burger joint. People travel over a hundred miles just to grab a Gross Burger, Shake and Seasoned fries).
Over the next several minute Flashdance watches the impromptu armor mods, jaw open just a bit. During the fight he felt at home. Right now though, with all of this science stuff going on, he's feeling a bit inadequate. All of the sudden he can identify with Leonard Shitz from 8th grade - the kid who wouldn't shower with the other guys in Gym class.
When the conversation finally gets back to "Freds" however, and Shockwave asks him about teleporting others, he brightens up a bit.
Why yes; i can teleport others. There's a couple ways I can do it. I can travel with somebody, or I can send somebody along by themselves. It's easier if the person is agreeing to it, but I can try to force it. I can teleport about the amount I can pick up. Luckily I've been eating my wheaties so it's about a ton. Give or take a coulple pounds.
Watcha wanting to do - head on in there, snatch Tommy and get out?

OOC: I'll commit karma. As I understand it, this commits 10 karma minimum to the task, and I can decide if more is needed after the roll. (My plan is to use enough to raise to roll to 46 or 41 if Oldschool volunteers his help.)
"I think you are getting the idea. A snatch and grab can avoid conflict with the gang members. I'm not sure it's the only solution, but I'd like to keep the option open. If you were able to get him alone, you might be able to get him out without anyone even noticing. Of course, we won't blend in so well. I don't think stealth is our best attribute."

OOC: Yes, 10 Karma is the minimum ante, from each (if Shockwave and Oldschool wanted to toss Karma in, 20 Karma would be the minimum size of the pile)
Normally, you can spend Karma to alter a roll after it is made. I used to house rule that the max Karma that could be bid to add to a roll by a character AFTER it was made is equivalent to the character's Psyche rank number, but I'm not using that house rule. You can spend as much Karma as you want to alter a roll after it is made.
BUT... it wouldn't apply to this situation anyway because under the building stuff rules all of the Karma must be bid BEFORE the roll. It's one of the few exceptions to the rule that you can Karma up a roll AFTER it's made. Power Stunt attempts are another situation where you have to bid Karma before rolling (along with the 100 Karma cost) that you can't spend Karma on after the roll is made.
Any overruns (Karma added that makes the roll over 100) gets refunded back to the character. I'd actually prefer that Karma bids be declared when rolling, so we're not going back and making two posts per action modified by Karma, Just another slight difference from tabletop.
Also, while we're on the topic of cheating fate <g>, have you all given any thought to forming a team Karma pool?

Hmmm,
Well, I could always go in in my civvies I suppose. With my hair down, straightened and dyed, throw on a fake beard / mustache, and, well, dress like a biker. I'll either blend in or look like a member of the Village People. And if they catch on, no problem; I'll just zap out of there. Maayyyybe knock a few heads together before I do though.

Greta the waitress flirtingly says in a mock affected Southern accent to Flashdance "I just don't rightly know if'n I want to know what a Gross burger is darlin but Paw has a shotgun sez you'll marry me by Saturday possum stew in the pot or not..." She laughs hysterically at her horrible twangy impression of Ellie Mae Clampett.
She asks everyone if they want refills of their beers, and before walking away she playfully pokes Flashdance in the ribs with her finger and says to everyone "Don't you let this $150 pizza go to waste."

OOC: I'll pump 40 karma in.

ooc: Should I assume Shockwave is allowing Oldschool to pitch in labor (which adds a column shift, making the attempt +4CS rather than +3CS and the labor time 30 minutes rather than 45 minutes? And I also want to know if Oldschool is kicking in Karma)

OOC: I was going to let him volunteer, but I won't be stopping him. I think Task is on his 4 day work shift, so not expecting quick posts though. And really no karma is needed on his side. I was actually considering not kicking any in. The worst possible result is currently yellow.
I guess one question on my part is how long this temp fix is expected to last.

ooc: Technically what Shockwave is doing falls under "modification / repair" because he's not really kit-bashing a new item per se, just reconfiguring the Flight power stunt of the Sonic Generation into functioning as a seperate power. I'm really only using the Kit-Bashing rules for the time it takes to make the modification. As far as how long the modification lasts, that's to be determined by the impending FEAT roll.
Red = permanent success
Yellow = Permanent Success, but reducing Flight and the other Sonic Generation powers by -1CS until 1-10 days of tweaking / testing works away the -1CS modifier
Green = Temporary Success that lasts for 1-10 rounds before breaking down and taking all of the Sonic Gen powers and stunts offline and requiring 30 minutes of reworking and a new FEAT
White = failure requiring another 30 minutes of reworking and a new FEAT
Now... here's the part you're gonna call me a bastard evil GM, LOL...
You're not going to know if the mod works until Shockwave puts the armor on and tests it out, which is when I'll make the roll.

OOC: Hey guys, just heading out to the mine to start my night shifts but wanted to throw some Karma into this for Shockwave so 'we' can get the modifications done (30 to 45 minutes). I'll through in 40 Karma and match Shockwave (or 10 if I'm only allowed to add 10). Again, DSk, feel free to 'auto' me until I get my set over. Peace))

When Oldschool comes over to help, Shockwave considers a moment. Maybe this guy knows what he's doing, and maybe I can learn more about him as well. Might be easier to learn to work together with a screwdriver than in the field, and if we are going to get into more messes like we had earlier, we'd better lean to work together fast. Shockwave grabs a hex driver from the toolkit and hands it across the table, along with the cleaner of the two gauntlets.
... After Old School and Shockwave finish with the armor, Shockwave checks the watch on top of his bag again. "Looks like it's almost time for me to get ready. Less than two hours before the gangs start gathering, and we will want to be in position first. Guess I should grab something to eat first...and a little research. Thanks for the help."
With this, Shockwave grabs his computer (discreetly pocketing the note), and brings up satellite photos (freely available via google earth or mapquest) of the location of Hank's, and looks for good buildings to get positioned at. As he studies the map, he grabs something to eat as well, not realizing how hungry he was until he started eating.
"We should probably head that way by 11. I wonder if this place would store my bag for me until the morning, or at least until they close. Carrying around a laptop and a repair kit isn't exactly helpful if we run into trouble."

After grabbing a little bit to eat, and studying the screen checking out Hank's tavern, Shockwave says, "Looks like time to start getting ready. We don't want to be late for our date." With that, he he gathers up the pieces of armor in his bag, and heads back to the private restroom, emerging again a short while later wearing his armor, with the bag over one shoulder, and the lucha libre mask in his opposite hand.
When he next sees the waitress, he asks, "Is it possible to leave my bag here for the night. I think it will just be in the way if a problem occurs at Hank's, and the chances of that are good."

ooc: I cut my finger, my mouse-clicking finger, so it's going to be a few before I can get a street map of Hank's up. If you have the city map from the Basic Rules set, "Schweineger's Furs" is the building Hank's is in. The map I will be putting up will have that building, but not necessarily the surrounding buildings (shopping mall, etc.) Sorry for the delay, but at least it gives Task time to get back to run Oldschool
Shockwave and Oldschool complete the modifications on the armor, requiring only a test run. Shockwave calls up a satellite view of Hank's Tavern on his laptop.
It is 10:20pm.
Greta comes back to the table and says "Last call for alcohol, fellas. We close at 11pm. But we are open until midnight on Saturdays."
When Shockwave asks her about a place to store his bag, she offers to keep it in her employee locker, then says "On second thought, perhaps Giovanni will hold it in his office. I'll ask."
She briefly departs, and returns with Giovanni.
Giovanni looks at the considerable damage the three heroes have done to the pizza and says, "So gentlemen, did you enjoy the pizza? You've eaten quite a bit. I've only seen one man finish a pizza this size, the Mighty Thor. And he barely could." Giovanni laughs.
He offers to have the remainder of the pizza boxed up for carry-out but frowns "Microwave reheating, not so good. Put it on foil, in the oven, until the cheese begins to bubble. Not as good as fresh from the fire, but not bad."
Giovanni turns to Shockwave. "I understand you wish to leave a bag here? I can lock it in the safe in the office if you would like. We open at 11am tomorrow."
It is now 10:30pm.
