[ooc: Oldschool hyper-heard automatic gunfire in the distance outside the museum while Mr. Rollins was showing the heroes their appearance on the news. After Rollins lets the heroes out of the locked museum, Olschool may make another hyper-hearing check to try to find the source of the gunfire and head that way. The gunfire came from bad guys, and depending on Solo's response to Chapter 2.5, possibly Solo's gunfire as well, LOL... depending on timing, the party is finally, hopefully going to meet Solo in Chapter 4. But, for now...]As Chief of Security Rollins lets the heroes out of the museum, Felicia Bifrost runs up. "Hold the door, Harry!" and Felicia exits the museum with the three heroes. The setting sun glistens warmly off her brunette hair—she is a very beautiful young lady, despite streaked mascara from crying. She approaches Shockwave specifically. As before, she seems nervous, as if something is on her mind. "Hello, again. Look, I'm really sorry about the coffee. Um, it's nearly dark, and I really don't want to walk through Central Park alone. Would you walk me to a cab?" [ooc: waiting to see if Oldschool shares that he had heard gunfire, and if Oldschool gets a "fix" on the direction the sounds of the ensuing commotion are coming from so that he and the others may choose to investigate. Ladies and gentlemen, the Gang Wars have begun ]

Why would she want to walk accross the park to find a taxi? There should be taxi cabs on 5th avenue within a hundred yards of the MET. Wait a minute, she must have something more to say. Maybe this really is an inside job and the guilt is getting the most of her. I knew something wasn't right in there.
Shockwave turns to Oldschool and Flashdance. "The closest pizza place I know of is on Madison. Head straight out from the park, take a right on Madison, and it should be within a couple blocks. I'll meet you there. I'm going to help find Ms. Bifrost a cab."
Turing to Felicia, "You don't mind if we take a quick stop in the park, do you? I need to pick something up. It isn't far out of the way."

After Shockwave agrees to escort Felicia to a cab, she seems a bit less nervous, though she still seems a bit overly stressed. Felicia overhears the trio discussing pizza and pipes in, "You's guys ought to try my favorite pizza place in Times Square. The best in New York. Slices as big as your head. It's in a building that used to be a church. Coal-fired ovens, the way Sicilian pizza was intended." She digs through her purse and produces a crumpled business card from the pizzeria. "I sometimes order delivery for lunch. This is the address. They're open until 11pm." [ooc: a real world NYC place... no free advertising, but your humble Judge / erstwhile NYC tourist swears by it ]Answering Shockwave as they begin to walk through the park, "I don't mind walking through the park with you. In fact, I usually catch a cab at the west end of the 86th Street Transverse. Too many cabbies want to milk their meters if you catch them on this side of the park to go to destinations west. They pretend the park Transverse roads don't exist and add a few miles to your trip." After a short pause, Felicia nervously adds, "I can't stop apologizing for spilling coffee on you. You are so kind to walk through the park with me. Usually one of the dayshift security guards will walk with me, but then again usually I'm out of work much earlier than this." A police car, sirens blaring and lights flashing, speeds north up 5th Avenue to the east and Shockwave and Felicia head deeper into the park.

"Times square it is then," Shockwave says handing the card over to Oldschool and Flashdance before heading into the park, activating sonar to see if anyone is still around but out of his sight range.
Hearing yet another apology, Shockwave tries to put the issue aside. "Accidents happen, and getting you to a cab isn't a problem. You did seem a little preoccupied in there though, like you had something to say, but were afraid to say it."
Shockwave leads Felicia a little to the south of the museum, and then pauses. "Wait here just a sec. I'm not really going anywhere. I just left something right over there before the meeting." He heads down a ravine and behind some bushes to retrieve his bag from the storm drain where he had left it during the meeting. Heading back up to the sidewalk with the bag slung over his shoulder, he says, "alright, now to find that cab."

Oldschool takes the card from Shockwave and grins.
"Okay, see you there. Come on Flashdance, lets go slay some pizza!"

Oh yeah - that sounds good. You suppose they have PBR on tap? Superheroing always makes me thirsty. Shockwave - we might even save you a slice if you are less than 5 minutes behind us!

Flashdance and Oldschool head south towards the pizzeria in Times Square as Shockwave and Felicia Bifrost part company with them.
As Shockwave retrieves his stashed duffel bag from a secluded storm drain, he patiently listens to Felicia's repeated apologies for spilling the coffee. "Accidents happen, and getting you to a cab isn't a problem. You did seem a little preoccupied in there though, like you had something to say, but were afraid to say it."
Felicia's eyes well up with tears a bit as she stammers, "It's my son. He's in a street gang. I think his gang has angered Hammerhead's gang, the ones that broke into the museum. I think they were sending a message to my son, by attacking my work, to show they could strike anywhere, anytime. My son is..." Felicia hesitates. "My son is a mutant. I don't know what his powers are. I think he's in over his head."

"Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. Your son is a mutant in a street gang, and you believe that Hammerhead stole the book just to send a message to him? That certainly puts a new spin on things. Breaking into the MET would sure be a lot of effort to send a message to a gang."
Shockwave takes a few more moments to process both what Felicia has told him, and what he'd found out in the museum. A possible connection comes to him, and it's not a good one. "Was he in the gang that was attacked last night? If so, is he alright?"

Felicia is shaking with fear as she speaks to Shockwave. "No, that was the 'Crimson Smiles' that were attacked. My son Tommy is a member of the 'Flashing Blades.' It's been hard to control him since his father left us. I worked hard to get my job at the MET so that we could afford a better place to live and get him away from such violent people. But between work and school I'm hardly ever home, and he roams the streets. Sometimes it's weeks before I see him. I know his gang has done work for the mob before and so has the 'Crimson Blades.' He's only 15, just a kid. They're all pawns of the major criminals in New York City, changing bosses, shifting alliances. Last time I saw Tommy he was on his cellphone, talking to someone about 'having the power' and 'going to war.' That was last Friday. I haven't seen him since, and he never answers my calls to his cellphone. But I know his gang hangs out a tavern near that pizza place I suggested to you and your friends. If his gang has crossed Hammerhead they'll hunt down and kill every gang member and their families. I'm scared, Shockwave. I want my son to leave these gangs. I want my son back."
=====
Suddenly, there is a rapid succession of gunfire, up ahead, on the 86th Street Transverse Road. Several people flee in panic past Felicia and Shockwave.
=====
Flashdance and Oldschool hear gunfire from the direction Shockwave and Felicia were heading.

Shockwave takes in everything Felicia is say, trying to come up with the right answers, but was unable to offer anything other than, "I'll do my best to get him out and see if we can get him on a better path."
With the sound of gunfire close by, Shockwave hands his bag over to Felicia. "Looks like it's a good thing you didn't walk alone. Could you hold this for a minute. Sounds like I'm needed up ahead."
Shockwave takes a couple of steps away from Felicia, to make sure she isn't caught in any backlash from the armor's systems, while kicking on active sonar to see if he can get a better picture of what he's getting into as he gets closer. Well, looks like it's time to see what this armor can really do outside of test environments. I hope this thing works. Engaging the sonic generators both in the boots and the gloves, Shockwave generates four blasts of sonic energy straight downward, which in turn propels him in his armor straight up. The boots create most of the power to hold him unsteadily airborne several feet as he wobbles and uses blasts from the gauntlets for steering, mostly to keep himself in an upright position. Once hes spent a number of seconds steadying himself (and looking somewhat clumsy in doing so), he leans forward and increases the power of the blasts from the boots, propelling himself up and forward in the direction of the gunfire. Once his speed begins to increase, his movements look less clumsy, and only the occasional blast from the gauntlets is needed to adjust his vector. Once about twenty five feet up, he concentrates more on the data coming from the sonar, hoping the view from the air will help give a complete picture.

Oldschool cocks his head, unsure of what he had just heard. It sounded like gunfire. When he heard it again, he turns to Flashdance.
"Looks like we have to cancel our pizza plans, FD," he says as he launches himself forward, using his powerful legs to cover ground in leaps.
Oldschool goes to investigate the gunfire, hoping Flashdance is hot on his heels.

"Yup - bad guy thump'n over gut-buster munch'n!"
A smile comes across Flashdances face as he proclaims "LETS DANCE!" and leaps after Old School
(occ - and yes, I realize that might just be the worst battlecry in the history of heroing, but hey - cheesy and clueless can be a fun schtick to :-) )

Felicia steps back with Shockwave's bag as his activates his armor's sonic generators. Data begins streaming across the Head's Up Display in Shockwave's helmet, as a soothing, yet emotionless pre-recorded human female voice speaks into Shockwave's ear... [ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL]
[SONAR ACTIVE. AMBIENT FILTERING ACTIVE.]
[MACH STEM SHOCKWAVE GENERATORS ONLINE]
[EXOSKELETAL STRUCTURE 100%]
[FLIGHT MODE ENGAGED]
[ALTITUDE 25 FEET AIRSPEED...]Shockwave takes to the air, a bit clumsily at first, but soon synchs with his armor's flight controls and looks almost gracefully as he zips across Central Park. The internal systems provide an annoying reminder... [WARNING: MACH STEM GENERATORS UNTESTED IN FLIGHT MODE][It would occur to Shockwave that flying and shooting with the same sonic generators might not be a good idea.]The sonar systems work like a dream. Especially with the SHIELD audio forensics software installed, locating and identifying sound sources, and overlaying that data in the visual display. First Shockwave sees a black sedan speeding down the 86th Street Transverse Road, heading west from 5th Avenue between the Met Museum and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. Hanging out of the back left window behind the driver, and shooting THROUGH oncoming traffic at the sidewalk on the southern side of the road (toward the Met Museum's side of the road) at crowds of people on the sidewalk. Right behind it is a police cruiser, in pursuit. [Soundsource: Vehicle 2008 Pontiac Gran Prix, emitting AK-47 automatic weapon fire]
[Soundsource: Vehicle 2005 Ford Taurus police interceptor model engine, emitting siren in pursuit wail]
[Soundsource: Crowd of 8 voices, emitting intermittent Glock 9mm gunfire]
[Soundsource: Crowd of 8 voices, unintelligible screaming]
[Soundsource: Three stationary human voices, emitting cries of pain]To the south, from the other side of the Met, Oldschool and Flashdance are leaping across Central Park in great arcing bounds, heading towards the gunfire scene. You see a flash of light on the back of the Pontiac and a man in dark clothing and laden with weaponry appears on the back of the trunk. [Proceed to Chapter Four... coming soon!!]Oldschool had thought he had hyper-heard automatic gunfire in the distance while watching news of the heroes appearance at the Met Museum. Now he was sure of it. Impressively, Flashdance's leaping kept right up with him. Flashdance remembered the Paladin Institute scientists telling him that his leaping power greatly exceeded his amplified strength as a function of his teleportation power's ability to shunt his momentum as a propulsive force. He didn't care for a physics lesson. All he cared about was kicking butt, and up ahead was butt to kick. On the second leaping bound over the softball fields behind and south of the Met Museum on the way towards the gunfire scene, you see Shockwave fly up above the trees near the 86th Street Transverse. Oldschool hyper-hears a very high pitched whining noise from Shockwave's armor in flight. Dogs in nearby apartment buildings begin to howl. On the third leaping bound... [Flashdance and Oldschool, also Proceed to Chapter Four... coming soon ]
