So, I've been following a few marvel groups on Facebook, and the discussion as of late is of course centered around the current changes in major characters such as Thor and Captain America. So I thought I'd get the ball started here as well. How do we feel about these changes? Personally it does not bother me too much that Thor is now a woman, he was never the "real" Thor in my book anyway - the real Thor has a red beard and hair, and is quite stocky as well. As for Cap being Sam Wilson now, well it seems a natural choice, when cap is now too old, one of the men he trained steps up and takes up the mantle - it seems right to me that they chose Falcon, mainly for the reason that its about time for the Icon of the USA to be updated, and besides if you are going to change who Cap is, then why not go all the way and make him a black man as well. Its time for marvel to show that they are not afraid to change stereotypes imo.

I don't even know what to say. I keep looking at the picture you posted but my mind can't wrap around understanding it. There looks to be quite a few things changing. What's the deal with Dr Strange being so skinny (looks like he stole the Cloak of Levitation from a Watcher... it's way wider than it should be). Is that Red Sonya? IS that the Red Hulk or is that the Human Torch? Is this going to be 616 universe or like the Ultimate Universe? So confused. I actually hate when one of my favourite characters changes. Im all for breaking stereotypes and all that, but I do not think you need to change Nick Fury into an African American man just because you have a cool actor that could play him (all praise the Samuel Jackson). I think it's Marvel taking the easy way out when they change a successful character into something other than they were just so show how they are breaking stereotypes. How about you make new characters that break stereotypes and support the existing ones that have been doing it for awhile. For example, I think Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) was a better idea than most Marvel has. Many of my female friends ask why can't there be powerful, successful female characters and for some reason Wonder Woman doesn't do it for them. They liked that Captain Marvel (Carol) was now the a$$kicker of the team. I say Marvel needs to go further and make a female character that doesn't have a spotty past and make her Sentry/Blue Marvel Tough and ensure that she never dates any other superhero... frankly I'd make her personal life a mystery to the readers and whomever she teams up with. You want to make changes Marvel, start producing a Black Panther comic and actually support it... even when it doesn't make you tons of money... especially when it doesn't make a ton of money. Make new characters and let them come to the front and respect the old characters and allow them to relax in the back because they are the ones that we old guys threw money at and changing them seems like a slap in the face.
Sam Wilson has always been a favourite character of mine. This is going to end up being like when James Rhodes was Iron Man and both James and Sam deserve better. Want Sam Wilson in the Spotlight?!? Let Captain America relax unchanged in the background while the Falcon flaps around with Black Widow and company for a hundred issues and through some serious writers and artists at it. Want Sam Wilson in a bigger Spotlight?!? Then give him his own comic and support it even when it doesn't make you money. I like Sam Wilson as the Falcon and I don't like loosing him...
There so many ways Marvel and DC could do stuff like this without offending the customers who have thrown money at them for 40 years. I want an actual Blue Marvel comic where he explores different scientific phenomena like the old FF did and I want him to stay tough. A Blue Marvel who is a hundred times more powerful than most heroes/villains and a hundred times smarter than most and a hundred times more mature..
Wow, Im starting to rant so Ill back away before I offend anyone, lol.
