Proboards V5

First off, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you. Several years ago, my gaming group drifted apart as we all got older and moved on to our adult lives but I always found myself returning to MSHG. Whether it was rereading old stat books or perusing old characters, I always remembered this game with more than a little fondness. Sure there were issues with it, there was always some sort of House Rule being flung about, but it always stood out as such a simple game to use, play and or Judge. When I found many of you online I was amazed at how many people felt the same as I do and was immediately inspired to create a forum for us to play at. We all have lives and responsibilities that seem to prevent us from joining a gaming table but having a forum where we could post a few times a week (or month, lol) made sense... just somewhere to share a love for this game. Thus, MSHG was born.

We've had a more than a few good times, a couple real good writers/Judges, a ton of decent players and an unearthly amount of good people with impeccable taste in vintage roleplaying games. I look forward to playing with you all, maybe I'll even find my old Judge shirt and blow the dust off and have a go when others need a break. In short, thank you all for being a part of this site. I know it's painful when your setting/campaign doesn't seem to move, all I ask is that you give people time... we've all got real life busting down the door, players and judges both. It's a hangout. This is one of the places where I can go to hang out with likeminded people and I love it. I log on every day and just read the roleplaying posts. It'd be nicer to give me more to read (aka more posts, lol) but I'm patient; I'll wait.

For those who noticed, we've had to switch to Proboards v5. WHile I could have waited to have it forced on me by Dec. 31st, I decided to switch it over a few days early just because I hate being forced into something (one of many quirks I suffer from... sigh). For the most part it's the same, but I did have to change the dice roller once again (~dodges the rotton tomatoes) and I apologize for this... the old codes simply do not work in the newer version of Proboards. If you've any questions, please feel free to PM me or post in the main forum.

well the new boards look great. I'm just wondering if all the campaigns have stalled. I hope not but nothing much has been happening lately

I think a lot of the campaigns are stalled. Their writers have moved on or they have just lost interest or direction. This happens all too frequently in online campaigns. The story never seems to advance quickly enough for either players or judges. As far as The Omen, I think we are still ongoing with it. He had mentioned an extra workload in real life, this seasons holiday is probably being spent recuperating, lol. I believe we will see more and I am excited to see it.

I wonder if we should set up some sort of time limit on how long we wait on campaigns and judges in regards to stories that have not moved in months. Additionally, do they distract where they are or should we move them to a separate board, like an inactive board. If their creator comes back we simple reactivate them if there is still enough player interest...

I am working on a setting for a Marvel-DC-esque world. It has a different format than the one we are used to here, so I am hesitant to put it up on the site. I currently run a few freeform settings sans rules, statistics or dice mechanics... and the biggest thing I hate about them is that there are no rules, statistics or dice mechanics. It always ends in arguments about whose character is tougher or more powerful without anything to back up their opinions. I've always wanted a freeform Marvel-DC that uses MSHG rules to govern player vs player interactions. I've played around with the idea of starting a sister site to this one for a freeform version where writers and players aren't completely at the mercy of other peoples timetables. There'd be freeform, solo and group adventures that can fire off at the same time (aka a character can be involved in 1 freeform, 1 solo adventure and 1 group adventure at any given time and no more... that way if one or two of these slow down, they can still get their creative mojo going by having options.

Again, Im not offering my idea to take anything away from our awesome Judges here. I am very opposed to trying to steal anyone's momentum. Online campaigns are nothing but momentum. If there is interest in my freeform idea or questions or clarifications, let me know. Until that time, I am one hundred percent behind our Judges and completely sympathetic to any RL issues that prevent them from being here as often as wed like to see them.

well to be honest I have 5 tabs that open every time I open Chrome, and this site is one of them. So yes I check in just about every day to see if anything new has happened, unless I'm away from home or something like that. What can I say, I love MSHRPG
