Markus DeShayes completes his Oblivion Gate spell, and briefly traverses through the familiar comforts of his Never-Place and steps out back on Earth, away from the scene of the bus crash that really was an extradimensional attempt on his life and in front of a large building with two 25 story towers rising from it.
The windows of the lobby on the ground floor of the building are shattered and boarded up, as if some work on cleanup after a great fight had been hastily done, then abandoned. Other than that, the building appears well maintained and clean. But, silent. There doesn't seem to be any activity going on in the building, at least from viewing it from the sidewalk outside.
In front of the building stands a large white marble sculpture in the middle of a pool and fountain surrounded by benches, a twelve-foot tall winged angel menacingly wielding a large two-handed sword, as if it were standing in defiance against unseen forces. The sculpture is itself impressive, and the angel's eyes seem to be looking at the observer no matter what angle they stand in front of it. The pool is filled with pocket change, perhaps tossed in by passers-by making a wish. A small bronze plaque on the rim of the pool identifies the statue as a piece of artwork entitled "The Warding Angel Against the Forces of Chaos" and dating it as erected in 1961 and placed by "The Paladin Institute in Memoriam of Departed Friends."
An awning over the lobby reads "Angel Towers Complex."
=====
Glitch commands the Angel Towers house AI computer called Ghost to display the view of the ground floor entrance [ooc: everyone is in a sub-basement level two floors down] and there appears a swirling vortex of light and energy with strange symbols dancing around it. From the vortex steps a man in a trenchcoat holding a large dagger - the man seen with Spellbound and the others in Flashdance's dreamworld broadcast. He stops in front of the fountain with the large angel statue erected in front of the building and appears to be examining it and the surroundings.

ooc: Can I make/have made an intuition/astral detection+Occult lore FEAT to see if I can guess the nature of the building's design?
Edit: I suppose it would've helped if I made the roll just in case...
...the outcome (if any) will determine his narrative

"Looks like we have some company. What kind of defenses does this building have outside?"
Shcokwave adjusts his right gauntlet. "We had better prepare a welcoming committee. This could be trouble."

"On it!" Vendetta replies as he's heading towards the elevator.

ooc: to Omen - viewed from the astral, the Angel Towers Complex is extremely spiritually active. The surfaces of the building's exterior are completely covered with glyphs and symbols going all the way up the sides of the towers to the top. It would take months, if not years to read and decipher them all. The building itself seems to be a gigantic dowsing chamber, perhaps the largest dowsing chamber ever built on Earth. Tethered between the two towers, and visible only from the astral, appears a large pendulum swaying in reaction to metaphysical energies. Above the towers, also only visible from the astral, are frightening demonic figures of shadow being held at bay by a large glowing white angelic being wielding a two-handed sword that resembles the statue. The angel pays Markus no heed. Markus' dagger does not react to either the shadow demons or the angel.
From what Markus can glean from what he sees, this place was built specifically for observing traffic between the Earth dimension and other planes of existence.

Glitch's eyes flare with glowing television static as he merges his mind with the computers once more. His voice takes on a mechanical tinge...
"That guy outside has a slightly different energy signature about him. Definitely from a different reality..."
Glitch's normal voice returns... "Whatever that means."

Well, well...this seems to be the day of impressive things...
Baroque sensibilities aside, the edifice that towers above me is a marvel of occult craftsmanship. To hide an artifact like this in plain sight...l'esprit obscurci ne voit rien en effet. Still...how it still stands --unassailed and unmolested -- is a mystery. As many as there are who would support the construction of a monitoring station of this magnitude, there are an infinite number who would rather see its pristine marble exterior blacked and broken than have their comings and goings observed. With what I know of him in the now, my father would surely support something like this. HIS father, however, would have surely interfered in its construction... ooc: Incarnation Awareness "retcon" FEAT attempt to "remember"/have his attention drawn to the back door coding (essentially allowing myself to come and go unnoticed)...eh, I'll spend some karma too, but no more than 20 pts[attack=103729338972802] While that thought tumbles around in the back of my mind, I take a closer look at the angel statue. Given the nature of the towers, my entrance can't have gone unnoticed...if Cassandra's companion's are indeed here and aware of what here is, their spandex clad theatrics should be starting in short order.
I tighten my grip on the Dagger of Souls...
"...As for not stabbing anyone...I will endeavor to refrain. That is the best I can offer..."
...then adjust my grip to hold the tip of the blade. With practiced grace I step to the front of fountain and begin loudly tapping the hilt against the marble....WARRIORS...COME OUT TO PLAAAAYAAAY--!Edited to...you know...be describing the right setting
...also...good guessing on the karma expenditure, right? ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

Solo pulls out his M4A1 and hides in the nearest cover, and tries to find any signal with his heartbeat sensor,
"Ill go check the perimeter, tell if someone or something gets near.",
Solo will guard the others especially Omen who seems preoccupied with his magical mumbo jumbo.

OOC: Omen, PM me to clarify what exact effect is being set up with Incarnation Awareness... given Markus' time-travel / dimension hopping capabilities and those of his "other" incarnations he may be creating more causality loops ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) One day, he's going to meet himself... or get a request from a future self... [20 points of Karma spent] ==== Everyone going to "greet" the new arrival in front of the Angel Towers Complex emerges from the boarded-up lobby to find him examing the fountain and idly tapping the rim of it with the hilt of his dagger....

Shockwave keeps to the entrance of the building, trying to observe and determine what kind of extradimensional terror has been sent at them this time. He keeps a gauntlet aimed at the newcomer, wondering if sonic weapons will even be effective.

Vendetta emerges from the towers, and immediately seeks the nearest cover. He ducks behind a pillar, keeping a clear view of Shockwave, so he can react if needed.

Other than the guy tapping the hilt of his dagger on the rim of the fountain, the streets and sidewalks are busy with mid-morning Manhattan traffic, cars driving by, people bustling down the sidewalks....

Shockwave modulates the frequency of his systems back to an ultrasonic frequency at a low amplitude and focused into a tight beam. Pointing first at Vendetta, he begins broadcasting.
"There is a lot of potential for collateral damage here. Lets not escalate this thing unless it's necessary, and if things do get heated, priority one is protecting the civilians from this creep."
Once the message is completed, he changes the vector to repeat the message in the direction of solo.
OOC: Power stunt time - Ultrasonic Communications By sending a tight low intensity wave of ultrasonic sound towards a target, sound can be sent to them that is virtually undetectable by others around them. The sound is sent in a straight line, so it can be blocked or intercepted. It's also possible that there is some "bleed" to the sound, allowing someone close by the beam to hear. A yellow FEAT causes no bleed, a green FEAT can be heard by someone in arms length of the target.
Assuming that nothing gets interrupted, I will be repeating the power stunt twice. I've already used this once, meaning the first attempt will require a yellow feat to attempt followed by the normal feat. The following round, I'll need a green feat, followed by the normal feat. I'll be spending karma to ensure the following: Power stunt feat - yellow, power feat - green Power stunt feat - green, power feat - green
Minimum expenditure is 10 each, so that is 40 karma. At the end of it, this feat should no longer be a power stunt.

ooc: we've always done powerstunts as straight rolls, so you'll need just two rolls, for each attempt. First one must be yellow, and if successful the second roll must be green. If the first roll is unsuccessful, the stunt to communicate with Vendetta may go awry. You can spend Karma on either roll but let's do the first attempt to Vendetta before resolving a second attempt.
Also, Vendetta and Solo are unaware that Shockwave can do this... you might startle them LOL...
