Seeds of the past....
Note: this content is shamelessly stolen from... myself It's from a prior attempt at running a combined Marvel / DC world... alot of it it already incorporated into the "feel" of the game, being that the current Gang Wars campaign is set in my campaign world, version 3.0... Hypertime is the "highest common denominator" in the hierarchy of possible cosmological existences, and yet is beyond all of them. It is the blank sheet upon which the timelines of every possible universe are written.
Within Hypertime exists an infinite number of alternate and divergent multiverses, some connected (or connectable / mergeable), most independent of each other.
The MSHG Multiverse is one such multiverse.
If it were possible (is it?) to exit the limits of the MSHG Multiverse of alternate and divergent realities, and enter pure, undefined Hypertime to look back upon the MSHG Multiverse and perceive the totality of its possibilities as a whole, it would appear as a giant armored humanoid figure wielding a sword (such as those that fought in the Marvel vs. DC comic book series). This Brother figure stands in a infinite blood-soaked battlefield littered with the dead forms of similarly armored figures. Upon his sword is enscribed the word "Crisis."
The MSHG Universe's version of "Marvel vs. DC" had / will have this "Brother" contending with it's twisted reflection in armor representing the existence of the Amalgam Multiverse. Due to the absolute malleability of pure Hypertime, the "Brothers" that represent the respective Marvel and DC Multiverses that clashed in the Marvel vs. DC comic book series "might" exist separately in Hypertime and currently unknown to the Brother-figure of the MSHG Multiverse. [The MSHG Multiverse's version of Axel Asher, or "Access," is a native of the MSHG Universe but can open gateways to the Amalgam Universe.]
The MSHG Universe is an oscillatory universe which begins with a Big Bang and ends in collapse, only to explode into another Big Bang and new universe.
There appears to be an infinite span of time between each oscillation of the Interweave universe's creation and destruction cycle. Between the existences of the current MSHG continuity and the previous MSHG continuity, several entities [always] "survive" to emerge or be reborn in the new continuity. Most of these are cosmic level entities that exist independently of the MSHG universe [The Living Tribunal and Imperiex, for example] or have gained such power in a prior incarnation of the MSHG universe [the Celestials, for example.]
Interfering with, even observing the birth of the MSHG Multiverse directly affects the way in which the reality within the MSHG Multiverse unfolds in time during its oscillation between existence and non-existence. In addition to making threats to the entirety of existence possible, this malleable aspect of the MSHG Multiverse is the bread-and-butter of reality manipulators, time travelers, cosmic-empowered entities, and your not-so-friendly neighborhood mad scientists and interdimensional conquerors from alternate and opposing anti-matter universes within it.
The MSHG continuity has been destroyed and reborn and rebooted and otherwise attacked a countless infinite number of times, and several items and concepts of vast cosmological power exist (or will emerge) in the current MSHG continuity that can make such events possible - the Anti-Life Equation, the Ultimate Nullifier, the M'Kraan Crystal, the Infinity Gauntlet, the Anti-Monitor's trans-dimensional control towers (if / when they exist), the Beyonder's birthing matrix, the Living Tribunal's judgement, etc.) Sometimes the employment of any of these devices and means will result in an entire divergent reality viable enough to overwrite the continuity of the current MSHG universe. The maddening paradox of which is the question 'who knows how many times it has happened?"
Prior to the "Big Bang" of the current MSHG universe, in the previous oscillation, another universe existed which was destroyed when the Dweller-in-Darkness [also known as Parallax] fractured the M'Kraan Crystal, hoping to feast upon the fear that the impending doom would bring to the universe's population. The Phoenix Force, however, reached out to touch every living mind and united them in peace, and the Dweller / Parallax was defeated. In spite of this, the destruction of the previous MSHG universe could not be stopped, but Eternity, the sentience of the universe, selected one being - the last living man in that universe, Galan of Taa - to survive and live on, merging with him at the point of universal collapse. The entity known as Imperiex, awakened by the breaking of the M'Kraan Crystal, brings about the final collapse of the previous Interweave universe into a cosmic egg.
Pre-Big Bang: The universe was collapsing. Galen from the planet Taa was ordered to set out into space to discover a method to save his world. Not finding any means to prevent the collapse of the universe, Galen and his shipmates decided to die gloriously by plunging their ship into the heart of the "Cosmic Egg," the focal point upon which the universe was collapsing. As the ship sped towards the Cosmic Egg, Galen's shipmates began to be affected by the tremendous forces pulling at them and began to die. Galen however did not perish but was protected from the tremendous gravities by the sentience of the dying universe. This consciousness contacted Galen and told him that they both would die, but in the new universe they would be reborn. The "Cosmic Egg" then absorbed Galen into itself.
It is theoretically possible to time travel to almost to the precise moment the previous MSHG universe collapsed and the new MSHG universe began, by travelling backwards through the timestream [current timeline] to a point equivalent to 20 billion years into the "past" (The current three-dimensional space-time aspects of the prime physical Interweave universe / timestream "began" 13.7 Billion years ago). Attempts to travel even further back beyond this time and enter the previous MSHG Multiverse are impossible, even for those use the Speed Force or the Time Gem at their highest potentials to be everywhere and every time "simultaneously." This is due to a number of extra-temporal events, including the War in Heaven. Safeguarding an assault from beyond the end of time (as a result of the Kang-Immortus Destiny Wars) it is extremely difficult to time travel to or back from the 64th Century AD and further into the future. Much of what lies beyond the 64th Century is in a state of constant flux and transition, far more undefined than the possible futures sketched out at the end of this chronology. At some undefined time in the future, the current Interweave universe will end. At this point in "time" one can observe several infinite spectral versions of Superman and Waverider leaving Doomsday to be destroyed by the gathering of destructive energies leading up to the Big Bang of the current / next MSHG universe.
Shortly "thereafter", one can view in succession the events leading up to the Big Bang of the "current" MSHG Multiverse. Particularly of note are the formations of extradimensional realms from the Fourth World to the Microverse that are technically older (by Planck seconds)than the standard physical planes of existence "where" the Big Bang took place.
The shortest or earliest meaningful interval of time that theoretical physics can describe, and consequently the youngest the known universe can be measured is one "Planck time unit" (10−44 second). This is the apparent length of "time" that occured between each final collapse of the previous Interweave Universe's physical dimensions and their subsequent unfolding into the current and future Interweave Universe's space-time continuum at the moment of Creation known as the "Big Bang." In this singularity moment all of the fundamental physical laws of the universe were determined. But much more occured in that moment, and the only way to describe those events in a linear chronological fashion non-cosmic minds can grasp is to tack on around 6.3 Billion years of history "before" the beginning of time, some of which is the result of time travel and reality manipulation by entities that would actually arise in the ensuing universe that followed.
Because of the impending "Secret Wars / Crisis on Infinite Earth" event going on behind the scenes, time travellers are for "some reason" blocked from jumping into the future after the game-time day of May 10, 2010 (it's late October 2009 in the Gang Wars game right now)
