"Ninjas that crumbled into dust?" Sable exclaims. "That would be the Hand. The Yakuza probably sent them after you and your friends in retaliation for the destruction of their property, the Dreadnoughts, and the loss of the Kick. You've got quite a salad of ugly going on there in New York. All evil men, jockeying for dominance. Forcing a power shift, and the Kick drug will make the gang war go nuclear."
Sable types something on her computer, and a few minutes later, a Symkarian soldier comes into her office, bearing two large briefcases and sets them on her desk before leaving her office. Sable opens them both, revealling stacks of $100 bills in US currency, $250,000 in each briefcase. She slides one briefcase towards Solo and the other towards Elixir. "To cover your expenses, reward your allies, bribe for information, get what you need to get into the gang war. Find this HYDRA Hypnoporter and Kick operation and shut it down and the other half-million is yours. If you need anything else, contact me through the Symkarian embassy."

"Wow, you've got it. Those things were on my to do list anyway. How would I go about putting this in an account that isn't readily accessible by the government? I hear about Swiss bank accounts, but perhaps the Bahamas are the place to be now-a-days...?"

Sable looks at Solo, amused at Elixir. "He's never paid an informant, has he?"
Sable chuckles at Elixir. "I'm sorry. It's not everyday I've hired an agent on the spot without knowing anything about him. I take it $250,000 is too large for your personal banking account? This is a dangerous game you're entering. Do you need a new identity? Perhaps one with a criminal record? That might give you some credibility in this gang war. I understand Hammerhead is hiring super-powered muscle in this escalating gang war. It might help you get close to him. It might even be good for Solo to pop in on him and wake him up in the middle of the night, once we can confirm where he's staying. Hammerhead is cautious and paranoid, moves around alot to make himself hard to track by law enforcement and his girlfriends. He definitely needs to be spooked. He owns several businesses throughout New York City, mostly above board and legitimate. He seems most comfortable in his nightclub, a place in the Bronx called 'the Roaring Twenties.' That might be the ideal place to 'offer your services' to him, Elixir. Are you up to going undercover?"

"Well, I hadn't considered that angle, but that would work...yes a new identity might be in order. I'm completely unfamiliar with this whole political/terrorist/mafia dance, but from what I've heard it's time for a crash course. If I'm going to go this path, I'll need to have my new identity pegged with some unsolved crimes to claim as his own, as well as some discreet name dropping."
Now I just need to figure out how to handle school along with all of this...

"You will need to consult with Glitch when you get back to New York," Sable says to Elixir. "Among his many mutant talents is making databases say whatever he wants them to say. I will inform him that you require a falsified identity. Have you ever been fingerprinted by a law enforcement agency, employer, or school laboratory security access screening? If not, Glitch will need an image of your actual fingerprints."
"Do you have anymore questions? The sun is going down in New York. Best get started."

"No, I'll give you a fresh set for him."
Best not to give too much away, I've been printed by the hospital, but they don't need to know that.
"What's the best way to get in touch with Glitch?"

"Via internet, if he's tuned in, which is unfortunately more often than not. Glitch is practically his own internet service provider as long as he's near a computer or cellphone tower. I'll send him a priority email message that you're looking for him. He should find you at that Paladin Institute Angel Towers complex."

Sable suggests to Solo that while the Paladin Institute is currently a client, any cautious meeting "away from them" would have to take place a few miles away from their staff member Vigil, who seems to be able to locate people telepathically if they are in his range. This is why Glitch goes offsite from the Angel Towers complex to report in, after his own exploration of their encrypted files discovered references to Vigil's abilities.

"Advice noted. I'll put in an appearance at the Towers and talk about next steps with folks. I don't think I'm going to share my plan to go undercover though. The fewer people that know the better and keeping the short list to Glitch and you Solo seems best."
