Powers:
Animal Mimicry – Am (50): This is a form of Power Duplication. The hero can duplicate the natural abilities of any animal. The hero's body does not significantly change; instead, existing flesh changes the way it functions. For instance, perhaps the lungs can now breathe water. The rank determines a successful duplication. Normal animals take a Typical Intensity FEAT, aliens a Good Intensity FEAT, and magical creatures need an Unearthly Intensity FEAT. Should the hero wish to duplicate an imaginary animal or being, he must make a Class 1000 Intensity FEAT. Duration ranges from one minute to indefinite.
GAME NOTE: When Beth takes on an aspect of an animal her appearance will change slightly towards that animal. If for example she were to take on the skin of a rhino, her skin would then look more like a rhino and less human.
Hypersensitive Hearing – Rm (30): The hero can detect extremely faint sounds and unusual frequencies. He can identify objects by the sounds they emit. Because of the sensitivity of the hero's hearing, he is more vulnerable to sonic attacks (which receive a +1CS against him).
Hypersensitive Olfactory – Rm (30): The hero can detect the presence of minute traces of substances and accurately identify them. This Power is continually functioning; the hero has learned to ignore unpleasant smells. If he loses his ability to mask out nasty odours, he'll be so distracted (and possibly sickened) by the intruding odours that he loses -1CS on Reason and Endurance.
Tracking Ability – Rm (30): The hero can detect and follow the tracks left by a specific target. The hero can detect environmental and spatial disturbances with the result that at high ranks the hero can actually track across deep space.
Talents:
Archaeology: A +1CS on matters involving the past, including palaeontology, historical records, and ancient myths and legends.
Anthropology:A +1CS on the study of humanity. Anthropology has origins in the natural sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences.
Resist Domination: This is a Psi-Screen that may be developed by the individuals without that Power. This permits the character to resist mental attacks as if the character had a mental power of Psyche +1CS. The Talent is passive in nature, and does not grant any other particular benefit. A character with Mental Probe may be able to discern where the character gained this Talent, but nothing else.
Occult Lore: The character with this Talent has knowledge of magical societies, antiquities, runes, and a general understanding of forgotten lore. The character gains a +1CS to Reason FEATs involving items of a magical nature.
Contacts:
Beth knows several people employed by various universities around the world. In addition to this she has a good relationship with the shaman of the tribe where she gained her powers.
Background:
Beth grew up a bit of an outsider, being quite pretty, but also quite bookish, she had few friends, and as she grew up she quickly found out that most of the jocks were only interested in her because she was smart and could help them with their homework, which usually meant that she did most of the actual work and they took the credit.
In College she began studying anthropology and archaeology and managed to get a doctorate in both. She then began working at the NYU as a researcher. Later in her career, she heard of a tribe in the central american jungles, who had warriors who seemed to have almost supernatural physiques. She managed to get a grant, and headed out with a small team to find the tribe and spend some time studying them in their natural environment. Unfortunately before they even got started, Beth and her team were caught in a landslide in the jungle, and most of the team ended up dead or injured. Luckily it was close to the tribe Beth had went to study, and they rescued her and the few survivors. While she was with them, she began attending their ceremonies, and slowly she began noticing changes. She could hear and smell things she hadn't been able to before. The tribe's shaman noticed also, and one day she took Beth aside, and explained to her that the spirit animals of the jungle had chosen her. She then began training with the shaman, and eventually learned to control her new powers. Soon however she had to leave for New York, to go back to NYU, but before she went she took an oath to never betray the secret of the tribe.
Shortly after she returned a new hero arrived on the scene in New York – her name was Ferine.
