To get some roleplaying in while the site and the community grows, I'd like to start running a non-TasKverse adventure, The Gang Wars Trilogy. Essentially, it's one of the few missions that wasn't designed for canon characters, which I wish there would have been more of, lol. If you've a character you have or would like to design in the power range of Daredevil to Spiderman, I'd love to have him here. Furthermore, I think Batman would work rather well for this DS if you'd be open to some roleplaying. I think Flash might be a bit overpowered for this based on how his powers and skills would totally handicap the judge, but if you've a DC or Marvel character who'd fit the bill to play this, I'd be open to accepting him (especially after seeing your last character submission ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ) Additionally, you could make a homegrown, especially one who's history and contacts wouldn't knock the TasKverse askew (that way you could play him/her/it in the regular continuity afterward. I'll play Oldschool (an old character of mine who I once had thought to build into an oldschool superman, back before he could fly, but we'll see how the Karma flows). Let's roleplay

Judge TasK,
Since Flash is overpowered for that Campaign (an assessment I agree with, by the way), what will I be doing during Gang Wars play?

I'm going to give Storm (and Lobo, Superman and Solo) one more week to respond. As I did not ask for a posting commitment (like one a day), I'm going on the just haven't been able to post.... which might not be likely as they haven't responded to emails. I apologize for the inconvenience in the meanwhile.
Have you considered making another character for the Gang Wars Trilogy? With two characters, there's far better odds that atleast one of your characters won't be hung up by missing posters, lol.

My vote is that the Gang Wars Trilogy *does* happen in the TasKverse, but it's expanded beyond NYC to Gotham and other places, and Batman (as an NPC in the tie-ins I'll run) uses this opportunity to sow the seeds of creating "Outsiders" teams across the land.
And since it's expanded in scope this way, speedsters like Flash will be... needed.

As there is no posting commitment in this, I'm wondering what pacing expectations are. Three full modules (although I don't know how long each is expected to take in tabletop time) is a pretty intimidating for a span of time if we are talking 6 second progressions a week during a combat, or some variable ammount per week with non-combat. Will there be any kind of posting schedule at all?
I've purposely not gone back and read the modules since I can't remember them (other than reading the character creation section of the first one to get a good example of the power level it expects), so I don't know how much mix of combat, conversations, investigations, and downtime there is. I'm just trying to figure out how far we are expecting things to go without a minimum posting commitment (or at least an "if you don't post by X, the judge will determine your action.")

Just so I don't clog up a thread besides this one, was wondering what kind of posting ettiquette you'd like from us? Mostly, would you like us to post directly in the thread where the newspaper article is, or do you want to keep that clean and have each "prelude" separate from each other. I'm fine either way.

Originally I was thinking in the same thread. Easier to keep together that way. There's merit to having seperate character threads until we come together, however, I think that we'll use the same thread. When I respond as Judge, I will do my best to seperate them with your character's name in capitol letters. So, because I'm being about as clear as mud.... You guys can respond in the same thread as the newspaper in character. Out of character comments or questions can be directed here. Dead Sidekick and I will do our best to label each post so that it is easy to figure out for you players in regards to your characters. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) p.s.- Remember, if you don't want other players to know something, use your P.M.s (private messages) to notify us. Kind of like when we used to slide notes to the Judge so the others players couldn't see.

Good deal. Solo and I will be posted fairly quickly I think. We've been talking in the Marvel Phorum Chat about whether to just guess and post, or wait. We'd have been right, but glad we waited since it wasn't a long wait.

There's going to be wrinkles to iron out, they are inevitable. Thanks for asking, though. I appreciate it. Often, I won't have an answer, but by asking... it forces me to come up with one.
I have never ran a campaign online before. Some of it is frustrating as hell, but some of it will be cool. Having a campaign log of our progress is cool. Most table tops you were very fortunate to have a player chronicle the campaign. Online, there's no need to bribe anyone, lol.

I have a lot of experience with online games. (I haven't played tabletop in over a decade, so play by post, Neverwinter Nights, and chat games have been my gaming fixes in that time. ) I know Sidekick has a bunch of experience running games, but if you ever need to bounce another idea off someone, I'm here. As you probably have figured out, I probably won't be too shy of asking about how you'd like to run things as well.

also, a question on genre. How gritty are we gonna get with the violence and gore? I prefer a squishy, Tarantino level of detail when it comes to mass destruction. Usually in my past games, you could fly through space and dimensions faster than light and transform lead into gold, but even Dr. Doom and Mr. Fantastic working together and spending all their Karma could never come up with a "mercy bullet." The dates back to a ruling by the Living Tribunal that said "Mercy bullets? Screw that boring crap."
So, unless Solo is going into battle with a beanbag gun, he ought to be careful who he pulls the trigger on, for Karma's sake.
We always made up for this running solo adventures with the killhappy characters (Solo, Lobo, Punisher, Wolverine) where they could actually earn Karma for killing in role-play. It's just when these brutal cats pop up in team-ups and group "comic books / adventures" that Karma makes them behave (if they care).
Just some more two cents. I'll be back around Monday-ish.

The dates back to a ruling by the Living Tribunal that said "Mercy bullets? Screw that boring crap." Although I can live with some level of gore if that is what others are looking for, I usually tend to prefer my Marvel games to be a more cartoon level of violence. Comics are very violent, with people getting knocked through walls, set on fire, electricuted, and worse. However, I don't really need anatomic details, guts spilling out, or limbs pulled (or blown) off. Now I do agree with this. Killing people is a possibility, so care must be taken. I do think it is generally harder to kill with guns in comics than in the real world (body armor is a big cause for that), but still can happen. (Going back to gore level, I just prefer "shot in the head" than "brains splattered over the wall".) I'm sure some of us will be encouraging best behavior. Not sure if it will matter, but we'll encourage. I could also see party infighting at time, even if it's just verbal.

If others prefer more details like that, I can live with it. Just getting my input in on that part.

I was kidding about forcing Agility FEATs on bloody floors, hehehe.
