ooc: I'm going to tally up Karma from Chapter 9 soon. I may just fudge it with a big happy number. I know the amount is going to be huge. Just assume that you have a big ol' supply of Karma on hand if you want / need to spend any before I produce the official number... just wanted to kickstart the game again.... and so...
Chapter Ten: Activation of the Murder Machine
[Solo, Shockwave, Vendetta, Ferine]
A bad night out. The city is awash in violent gang attacks, anti-mutant fears and hysteria.
Oldschool was lost, buried underneath the rubble of the collapsed Roaring Twenties club. Elixir was unaccounted for. Flashdance seemed to have broken his legs leaping from a terminal velocity fall and teleported away after apparently teleporting the Rhino's amulet back to the team headquarters.
Following the battle at Hammerhead's Roaring Twenties club, the heroes beat a hasty retreat as the cops became hostile and began to accuse them of being the Faces of Fear. Solo quickly teleported away with Shockwave and Vendetta. Ferine took on the traits of a cheetah and ran, eventually losing the police that pursued her. She arrives back at the Angel Towers complex that serves as the team's headquarters around twenty minutes after Solo, Vendetta, and Shockwave do.
And the scene at the Angel Towers complex is chaotic. The building is littered with the bodies of Paladin Institute staff, all of which dissolve into dust when touched.
All of the bodies are rapidly deteriorating into dust, similar to previous encounters with the mysterious projections of the Hypnoporter that are killed or knocked unconscious.
Vigil and Arc are no where to be found. The artifact and the collected amulets remain in the sub-basement.
The heroes spot the array of gurneys, jarring a memory of Rin, the kid that was created by a gestalt of clones and projected from their minds into the waking world. He had accompanied them into the battle at Hammerhead's club. Somehow the heroes had forgotten he was there. After much discussion, the heroes remembered Rin. All of the gurneys are empty, save for similar piles of dust where their bodies were.
Most disturbing of all is the artifact itself, now glowing with five of the seven amulets inserted into it. On the floor before it is Deadpool's costume.
And the ANomalous Geometric Event Locator equipment is flashing a report that says:
[Alert: Extradimensional containment breach]
[Alert: Intrusion detected]
Various computer terminals display security footage of some ethereal blur of energy coming out of the artifact and rapidly going out through the building, entering every person it came into contact with, dropping them into piles of dust. It returns to the artifact, then enters Deadpool. He strips his costume off, and enters the artifact, disappearing.

After some ritual spell preparation and begrudging protests from Anton, Markus casts the Apotropaic Eye of Dyzakk to protect the mansion at Fire Lake before leaving for his roundabout flight to New York via Chicago in the guise of this Maggia financier "Sam Evans." Markus surmises a hint of rivalry or betrayal from Anton. Why would he object to the casting of a spell meant to ward off threats unless he were seeking a way to be a threat to Markus or to the mansion? Anton claimed to be apprehensive about Markus calling upon Dyzakk, but it seemed more than mere occult religious differences.
On the flight from Chicago to New York, Markus finds himself seated next to a man in a red top hat - a Romani man in funeral attire, who claimed to be going to New York to attend the funeral of a dead relative. The man seemed visibly nervous around Markus, but still kept up a pleasant demeanor.
"Sir, I couldn't help but notice the remarkable lines on your hands. I'm a palm reader. Do you mind if I look at your hands?" the Romani man said.

[Renegade]
The weird dreams were happening again. Ever since Renegade had come into contact with the Shroud at Starky's Pool Hall, he found that when he slept, he would temporarily swap places with one of his own shadow duplicates. It was oddly disorienting, but he remembered travelling through the Darkforce Dimension and finding the strange machine that contained the hero Oldschool. He had been guided to it by telepathic whispers from his master Stick. Freeing Oldschool from the machine, it somehow brought the kid Rin out with him. But then when he left the two, taking shadow form, he emerged somehow in Nome, Alaska, in the past.
Two weeks into the past to be exact. Somehow, Renegade had been flung backwards in time. Using his powers and knowledge of the outcome of some Mets and Yankees games, Renegade was able to hustle billiards players and place bets at a local bar in Nome, Alaska to get up money for a plane ticket back to New York, changing planes in Chicago. He would arrive in New York City a day after he travelled backwards in time, unable to prevent the capture of Stick.
Across the aisle on the plane back to New York, a man in a red top hat is doing palm readings for different passengers and is pressing the dark, long-haired man next to him to let him read his palms.
